Has anyone replaced pads and rotors on the front? I'm wondering what's involved.

Not a big deal. Just did it this weekend on all 4 wheels. Fronts are easier. Just takes a clamp, needle-nose pliers and i think it's a 17 mm socket/ratchet. Don't forget a hammer/mallet to get the old rotor off. Shouldn't take more than 2 hours for the front 2. I did all 4 in 3.5 hours.

Thanks for the tips. Are these floating-type rotors that slide on and off the hub? And did you have to buy anything other than pads and rotors (springs, for instance)?

Yup, floating rotors and nothing else to buy. I did pick up some blue brake grease just to make sure things were sliding nicely and to prevent chatter.

I see that one of the steps in the Toyota manual is the removal of the brake line from the caliper... but in my past experience this hasn't been necessary. It's usually just a matter of unbolting the caliper and suspending it from a piece of coathanger wire.

Any opinions?

I didn't undo the brake lines (therefore I didn't need to bleed them but did anyhow later). I just set the calipers on a large wood block about 9"-10" high. Worked great and didn't stress the lines. I did have to undo a small bracket from the "upper control arm" so the flexible line could "flex."

yep, you definitely don't need to unbolt the brake lines from the front calipers in order to remove them.

Does anyone know if the 02' Sequoia calipers are different from the 03'-06' model calipers? I know they are different with the pre TSB Tundra, but when I looked at my calipers and pads this week, I noticed that the caliper looks like the 13WL caliper that is on the replacement Tundra. I thought about upgrading my 02' caliper, but it may not be any different. Let me know if you guys have any thoughts. I need to see if MEVANG is still around...thanks in advance!

Got'r done today - couldn't have asked for better weather. Went pretty smooth. Except...

I did have to undo a small bracket from the "upper control arm" so the flexible line could "flex."

Broke the head of the bolt off the one on the passenger side. @#$!

It's zip-tied in place until I can get it into the shop.

You can see it if you look under the front of the Sequoia peering under the front bumper looking toward the inside of the wheel where the caliper is. I'm guessing the 05' Sequoia is running the 13WL casting, but I haven't been able to get anyone to verify this. Let me know if you can take a look...I would greatly appreciate it!

Where did you get the PDF file? I have an 03 Sequoia 2WD. I have done the front brakes before so that isn't a problem. I am concerned about the E-Brake on the rears. I think I remember when I did the rears on my Maxima I had to go to the parts store and borrow a special tool. Would that apply here??

big-o... took a look a few minutes ago. There's certainly a 13W there but the character after could be an "I" or an "L"; hard to tell for sure.

Perfect, thank you for taking a picture of that!! Huge help. That verifies that my O2' has the same caliper 13WL, which is the upgraded caliper. I'm very happy I don't need to mess with any upgrades, and can just do the pads and rotors.
