Have a 2005 Sequoia that is at 260k. Love the car but has a loss of power, esp trying to get up to hey speeds. Yes the check engine light is on. Was told it was some vac seal I believe and cost 2K to fix so not worth it. New plugs at tune up. Get oil changed every 4K with synthetic blend high miles oil. Help! Anything I can do???

Try high mileage STP for a boost, cheap maintenance!

More than likely the secondary air pump failure.
Hewitt-Tech Secondary Air Pump Valve Bypass Kits get the actual code and read up
I had to install a Hewitt bypass kit a year and a half ago. My Tundra went into limp mode and I was in the same boat, no power. The kit is great and is a plug n’ play with the exception of the block out plates. It has a lifetime warranty and the customer service I got from the company was top notch. I’d try it if the vehs is in limp mode.

Is the Hewitt kit something that should be done preemptively? It sounds like it can be done once the problem shows itself. What trouble codes or symptoms told you that you needed it?

Can’t remember the actual codes by I had but just about every light on the dash came on. The Hewitt-Tech website list multiple codes that their product clears. I read at the time of my install that some folks had the problem fixed under warranty but then still installed the kit so it wouldn’t happen again. I contacted Toyota about mine and they said it hasn’t been a recall on my 12’ yet but if there was I’d have to uninstall the kit if I ever got it fixed under a future recall. Personally I’d get it fixed and put the kit right back on.

Thanks. That is good info. I have an 05 Tundra and an 08 Sequoia so I’ve got multiple susceptibilities. I was also curious because I met a guy a few months ago who had a problem with his SAIS on an 06 Tundra that has been otherwise very reliable and he planned to keep for quite a while still. I can’t remember what he did to fix it but he said it made an awful noise at start up when it was going bad.

Jgrauman already gave you a link to their site, here's a link to their thread. You dont have to read through the whole thread, the first 2 posts should more than answer your questions.
