4.7 reg/access cabs run low 15's for the 1/4 mile. The '07s weigh a good thousand pounds more. Could the '05, '06 4.7 reg/access cabs beat an '07 5.7 double cab? How much faster is a 5.7 reg cab? a second? Anyone race one?

The general rule is every ten horses added improves a tenth in the quarter, and every 100 lbs added slows by a tenth. That should mean your comparison would be close.

Practically speaking, the 4.7 is a little weak on torque and hence slower to launch. I therefore think the 5.7 would pull several lengths off the line and hold off the 4.7 for the remainder.

A Gen 1 4.7 reg cab versus a Gen 2 5.7 bus should be closer though, and since reg cabs are so rare... :D

I thought a 2006 VVTI 4wd access ran a 15.8 or 15.9 qaurter, when tested by edmunds. 5.7 2007 4wd Double cab ran a 14.8.

I have a 05 DC 4wd (rated at 282hp) and it's plenty fast for me. However, last week I was getting my 05 serviced and test drove a 5.7L Crew Max 2wd. In my opinion, the 5.7 will eat the 4.7 alive.

I agree.....
I never drove a 5.7 but if what I read is true (14 second 1/4 mile) then the 4.7 would get beat pretty bad IMO.......

I saw a stock 05' access cab 2wd run a 14.9 at the track a few weeks ago...

not to mention my 06' 4wd runs with most low 15 high 14 sec cars (i.e. RSX type S, HEMI charger, bmw 330's)

i say bring it 07's.

I had my 2wd DC in for service Monday and my salesman let me take an '07 2wd DC TRD-offroad 5.7 for the day. The seat of my pants told me that the '07 would spank mine any day. And that was a green engine with only 200 miles on the clock.

This was a back-to-back comparison. I dropped off my truck in service, walked over to the showroom, got the keys, then drove off in the '07.
