4 Wheel Drive Noise - Front Passenger Side

Hi,
Purchased a used 2000 Tundra SR5. Runs well, but when the 4wheel hi or lo is engaged, and you turn the wheel either left or right there is a loud clicking sound that is definitely not supposed to be there. Only there with the 4WD engaged, and the 4WD light comes on steady. Metal on metal sound, and again, only when turning left or right.

Any suggestions for what to look at would be appreciated. Ball joint was replaced on this side before purchase, but I don't think the 2 are related.

could be a lot of things but never ever turn on pavement with 4x4 engaged just asking to brake something
