I have an 03 tundra. Everything was working great, been out wheeling many times. One day in the sand climbing a trail I got stuck. Backed down it and started for another attempt. Somehow lost power to front wheels. Never heard anything break. No grinding. No wheels fell off. Yet No power to wheels. My 4hi an lo light comes on just fine still. Also I can here it click in. I also put it in 4wheel and let it idol it self down the beach and looked under truck front drive shaft is spinning. Nothing looks broken from outside. I'm scared it might be a huge expensive fix. So I joined this forum I really need help! Thank you all. I have been reading your guys posts!

Sounds like the front diff A.D.D. to me. Maybe just the vacuum hose or the wiring harness to the A.D.D. came off?

Got it up on stands. Front drive shaft from transfer case spins. Doesn't seem to have vacuum to actuator. We tried giving it vacuum with a gun still nothing.
Okay, now we are getting somewhere. Is it possible the vacuum nipple on the front differential is clogged? Also, if not "exercised" regularly the actuators can corrode and seize. Next step is to track down some schematics/prints on the front differential actuator. Give me an hour or so to track down the schematics/prints - I am pretty sure I have them.

There was a recent thread on the 4WD actuator, the guy mentioned "it's a breather, not a vacuum line". We've been calling it a vacuum line for years, but I don't know that anyone ever verified it. The actuator, as far as I know, is electrical and nothing else.

If the truck is on jack stands, off, and in 4WD drive, turning one front wheel should cause the other front wheel to turn backward. If they spin independently, the sleeve isn't engaging, meaning the A.D.D. shift fork may be stuck. There's a very recent thread on rebuilding the actuator, have a look...it's likely not more than a page or two back.

Another simple test is switch to 4WD on dirt, and make a slow figure-8 at full lock. If the front is engaged, you'll hear and see the tires slipping.

I have not been able to much about my truck. I believe I'll wait for better weather before I tear into it. Thanks for all the help! I'm also trying to lift it enough for 37's or least 35's . Not sure how much I need to do. currently on 33's with I believe 4 inch lift
