sounds nice for that year of truck check over at YotaTech
He is right on! 85 is the best year of any Toyota truck to start an off road build up from. I don't know how much you are planning on spending but if the budget allows I would add a Marlin Crawler T-case (several different to combo's to choose from) and some type of birfield replacement ie. Longfield, Newfield, Marfrield, ect. With that added to the springs and lockers you will be able to dominate trails like the Rubicon. When you say 80's are you looking for a solid axle? 85 and earlier or IFS 86 and newer?
The solid axle is bullet proof and we have tried them. The ride is stiffer but for an off road rig they rock. Here is a pic of the 1985 Extra Cab truck I talked my father in law into. 85 is the best of both worlds. Fuel injected and a solid axle. I would get this if I were you. Add some Marlin Springs front and rear Lockers and go for it.
