Nice build. I been wanting to boost my 08 tundra but have other project I need to finish first. I wonder how come you didn't look into the precision billet turbos. Those been the hot turbos lately in the sport compact scene.

I didn't know to much about turbos and still don't know to much about sizing them. So i asked a lot of different forums and the master powers t70 was the turbo a lot of people were recommending. So thats the one i got. I am regretting it know because its leaking oil and has already been rebuilt and is still doing it. I am still trying to find a better turbo that will still reach my power goals and have a quick spool. I have been leaning towards the Garrett GTX35R because i know they are a high quality turbo. but precision looks nice too. i just don't know enough about turbos to pick the perfect one.

this turbo looks like it would be the right size but i really don't know how to size the correctly.
Precision's 6265 my goal is to make 700hp but i want quick spool about 2,500 rpm. If there are people on this forum that are good at sizing turbos i would love to here what you think would be a good quality turbo that would work good for my engine!

Coming from the honda world many have made over 700+ whp on the 6265. Evo guys have made over 800+ whp on the with the 62mm turbo on a t3 frame exhaust housing. At that power the turbo will be pretty max out. But those are all just on a little 4 banger. Being our truck are on the heavier side I would worry about the torque over the hp, don't you think? I think a 62mm turbo will still make it a beast reguardless if it make 700 hp or not. Get a smaller rear housing if you want the turbo to come earlier. Maybe step down to the t3 frame rear housing.

Man I commend you for building this truck with the 3UR-FE in a GEN 1 Tundra and using after market ECU's for the engine and trans. Man I stated earlier about boosting the crankcase I too was having the problem with turbo leaking, it was my first turbo build and didn't know there was a special way to set up the PCV system. I was getting it dynoed and some one pointed it out, I am sure glad they did because you can blow everything up doing that.

Why???

Please... more.
More.

That is so awesome.
Videos of this beast being driven on the highway is a must have now that you've shown how incredibly awesome your accomplishments are.

I have had the same thoughts with a twin setup of the tundra myself and reading all the time and patience you've had with this install, i can speak for myself and many others i'm sure, its Awesome to see that a standalone is possible and in time we will see how the factory tranny handles the power, since the supercharger tune reduces boost at shifts, have you taken this into consideration for tranny longevity? Great build and awesome that you kept so many informed, you should build a website around your standalone and sell instructional manuscripts detailing what you did and how you overcame challenges and i'm guessing you could easily get back your investment and start a improved movement for Tundra alive standing Alone!!! by Mad Bulldog!!

Just a thought since not many experienced so called Tuners splice a standalone into a unknown engine, Motec is the only system I know of that is compatible with all sensors, yet the cost of ownership is spendy to say the least. Your approach works and best of all you appear to be a Gearhead with answers Many would Pay for.....

Excellent Work BullDog!!!

thanks for the complements.

With the tcu i have running the transmission i have firmed up the shifts some so it doesn't take as long to shift and doesn't slip the clutches as much. i plan on running this transmission till it blows so we will see how long it last.

A little update. Well i couldn't fix the oil leak problem. So i decided i would top mount the turbo in the engine bay to hopefully fix the drain problem. This will also help with the turbo lag having less piping. Hope i can make it fit and still look clean.

Yes this will be a rear mounted turbo because there is no room in the engine compartment.

There is really only one area that i can mount the intercooler, right behind the plastic bumper cover there is enough room. Its tight but will fit.

Well i had to get a standalone ECU. Its a LINK G4 xtreme. I had the engine in the truck and running already with it and it works great. I am still trying to find after market fuel injectors that will fit and be able to handle the Hp goal of about 700hp. If anyone knows of one that will work I would love to know about it! TRD fuel injectors are about $1,500 by them self's so i really don't want to get those.

The exhaust is 2 1/2" from each header to the turbo, then after the turbo it goes to duel 3 1/2'' with Magnaflow straight through mufflers.

I know I'm posting to an old post but I saw those pictures and the motor looks great. Question. Are those Doug Thorley headers??? They look beautiful.
