Looking to buy a 2007 SR5 4wd. When I checked the device records the dealer inspected the frame for rust in 2018 due to the recall, but it didn’t meet the criteria for frame replacement, the dealer treated it with some sort of rust protectant. Last month the seller took it to another dealer to have timing belt/water pump replaced and dealer noted some rust spots on the frame and the front and rear suspension but no perforations. The black protectant that was applied by Toyota dealer in ‘18 is peeling off already.
Thoughts?

Its not that bad. If you do purchase it make sure you go buy some rust inhibitor like Fluid Film and treat it again yourself. Not just the frame but the entire under carriage.
Wanna see a really bad frame? Check out below. And use the search function on here and type in something like frame rust.
