2002 Tacoma regular cab. The air conditioner is charged, the light comes on when I push the air conditioner, the fan blows BUT the air coming out is not cold. What could the problem be? I don't feel the compressor kicking in. Could it be a bad switch or something more serious?

This is a problem I have had on my 2001 and 2002.
What you need to do is open the hood.
Look at the back firewall, you will see were the heater control valve is.
Lift the cable off the pin.
The valve will then move 1/4 more and will close all of the way.

I have yet to cut a slot in the top (or bottom) bolt hole in the mounting bracket.
This should allow the cable to be adjusted and left on the post.
Removing the cable and moving the valve made a very big differance in the temp.
I use to have warm air always comming out of the vents, even when it was cool outside.
