I have a 2006 SR5 4wd sequoia which I use for some moderate towing.

I was thinking about adding some airbags to the rear coils. I inspected them and found a "rubber spring" inside the rear spring coils. I assume these are to keep the rear springs from compressing too much. Is it safe to remove these when adding airbags?

I have the factory AHC airbag system on mine, but I think you would be fine removing the factory "spring compression limiter???" and putting in some airbags which will do basically the same thing while helping out with heavier weight.

I put on Air Lift 1000's and love them! I tow a 3,500 lb. boat and they keep me nice and level with trailer, gear, kids, etc. I paid about $90 at streetsideauto.com or something like that. I also splurged ($11) for an air guage with a little button on the side for deflating the airbags to exactly the PSI I want. I run them deflated to about 7 PSI and don't notice any difference in ride. They took a couple hours to install because you hae to drop the rear axle, but nothing major.
