Yes I have not recieved anything from Toyota about my trucks frame rust. I live in southern Pennsylvania. I love my truck and would buy another. I just want to have it checked by the dealer and have and explanation and remedy. I am one of the biggest Toyota fans in the world but the '09 Ram looks darn good.

Go read the forums and see what troubles the new cummins is having. The new EPA laws have played havoc with the diesels. Lower MPG's and increased maintenance costs. The EGR systems are a big problem also.

Have you read through the recall thread and identified the parts on your own truck? If it appears to be needing it, just take it in. If they won't do it, with a few buddies and a weekend or two of time, you can take care of everything yourself, if you're inclined.

In California, this is the latest on the recall:

Recalled Toyota? Get door-to-door service
March 1st, 2010, 1:30 pm

So your car has been recalled. You need to get it to the dealership for fixes – but you also need to get to work, or school, or back to the house.

California Toyota owners can get at-home pickup and vehicle return, and cost-free alternative transportation, while their recalled cars and trucks are being fixed, according to an agreement reached between Toyota Motor Sales USA and California Attorney General (and leading Democratic candidate for governor) Jerry Brown.

“This agreement goes a long way towards easing the burden caused by Toyota’s massive recall,” Brown said in a prepared statement. “It will now be much easier for Toyota owners to get to work and take their kids to school while critical safety repairs are made on their cars.”

Under the terms of the agreement, announced Friday, Toyota will provide owners of recalled vehicles with:

* Pick-up and return of vehicles by the dealership;
* Transportation to the dealership and/or to the owner’s place of work;
* Alternative transportation, such as a rental car, loaner vehicle or taxi reimbursement for a reasonable period that the customer is unable or unwilling to use his or her car;
* and expedited scheduling for repair services.

Contact your local Toyota and Lexus dealers to arrange service, or call Toyota’s customer service center at 1-800-331-4331, or Lexus’s at 1-800-255-3987.

Here are the recalls covered by the agreement:

* September 29, 2009 for floormat entrapment;
* January 21, 2010 for sticking accelerator pedals;
* February 8, 2010 for anti-lock brake system issues;
* and February 12, 2010 for drive-shaft failure.

And here are the vehicles themselves:

* 2005-2010 Avalon,
* 2007-2010 Camry,
* 2009-2010 Corolla,
* 2007-2010 ES 350,
* 2008-2010 Highlander,
* 2006-2010 IS 250 and IS350,
* 2009-2010 Matrix,
* 2004-2009 Prius,
* 2010 Prius,
* 2009-2010 RAV4,
* 2008-2010 Sequoia,
* 2005-2010 Tacoma,
* 2007-2010 Tundra,
* 2009-2010 VENZA,
* and 2010 HS 250h.

The agreement will remain in force until all recalled Toyotas have been repaired, and Toyota will foot the bill, at no cost to either the owners or the dealers, Brown said.

I know a guy that had his '02 "bought back" by Toyota - almost $9K. The rep told him that Toyota will not be doing a recall on this. If you make some phone calls and set up an appt, they will start the process, but don't expect anything in the mail about a recall. Apparently his was bad to the point of being able to push a finger thru the frame at points. This rust issue on our Tundras has been pushed to the far, far back burner with all the other issues they are dealing with. Pathetic. Oh what a feeling. GOOD LUCK...

The "Tundra frame rust recall" thread is pretty long, so finding the info
you may be looking for could be a PITA. I posted in it a while ago that I
called Toyota HQ myself to find out when I could expect a letter. I gave
the woman my VIN number and she said it didn't come up as eligible.
My truck is an '02 and has been in Massachusetts since it was bought.

Anyway, she told me to just call the dealer and make an appointment to
get it checked out. I did so and the dealer had me bring it in, no questions
asked and did the inspection. Basically, if you're waiting to hear from
Toyota it may not happen, especially now with the gas pedal situation.

Call your dealer and talk to the service manager and let him/her know the
situation. If that doesn't work then you'll have to call Toyota HQ, but
don't wait for a letter.

Brought my 2000 Tundra in last week for a spare tire carrier rusting out, which it was, and they found purforation on the frame. Toyota rep was in the area and verified this and made a report and I got a case # from Toyota corp. The dealer wouldn't let me take my truck unless I signed a paper stating they would not be held liable if anything happened concerning the frame. They rented me a vehicle and Toyota Corp. told me until they decide what to do about the frame I would be provided a rental. Would really like to know when or what they will do, but they couldn't tell me . My local dealer told me this was their first Tundra frame problem they have processed. Also have a 2003 2wd Tacoma they said I need to bring in.
