Tundra V8's over 150k mile club?

If so How long are people getting with the stock Transmission? And any other major parts replaced?

I am at 148k!

Thanks

164,000 miles on my '01 V-8 Tundra SR5 regular cab. Never any problems with the engine or transmission, just take it into the dealer every 5K for engine oil change, and every 15K (severe use) miles for the transmission drain and fill. Never ever will have them do a transmission FLUSH, heard too many bad stories that the transmission acts up after one of those...maybe the power flush damages sensitive transmission parts?

Recently had a Bilstein HD shock (aftermarket - installed two years ago) come apart at the top mount, wearing a deep groove at that top spring mount plate, also needing replacement. Did drive over many 1-2 foot packed snow and ice mounds this winter, at slow speeds of course.

At about 133,000 miles, Lower Ball Joint failure, resulting in front end frame and components falling to the ground, and also tearing out one side's front axle and bearings. Toyota Corp, and dealer paid for all repairs even though my '01 was not part of the LBJ recall, only for '02 and thereafter.

At about 140,000 miles fuel pump failure, expensive repair due to it being inside the gas tank under the truck.

Everthing else pretty normal wear and tear items, brakes, rotors, calipers, drums, etc.

Love the drive and feel of this truck, esp. with the dual TRD exhaust adding a little extra power and growling sounds on acceleration, and the Hellwig ASB helping on the quick cornering abilities.

I would first check with the previous owner to see if they replaced them. As the '01 Tundras are not covered by the LBJ recall and the free Toyota Corp. replacement, it is probably best to change them at your expense after....insert your own mileage guess... as a precaution to prevent wear and tear failure. There are many threads here on Tundra Solutions regarding this problem, just use the search function on this page. The initial signs that the lower ball joint is about to come apart are binding and difficulty to steer, and steering wheel does not come back to center (with your hands off) after a turn around a corner. After mine did this, the LBJ failure happened within an hour of driving, so this is a warning that LBJ failure could happen very soon. I figure with the 1st gen Tundras, this is a design and manufacturing flaw and the best precaution is just to replace the Lower Ball Joints in advance before anything happens, at least every 100,000 miles in my opinion, as a normal wear and tear item much like brakes.

175K, I am second owner. synthetic oil in engine, and diff. Flushed the trans about 15K miles ago, put mobil 1 in it, and it went out this week, so I am replacing the trans.

Toyota did the ball joint replacement under warranty. Had a timing belt replaced, and did the brake upgrade myself.

Not gonna flush this transmission ever. Drain and refill only. Engine runs great, doesn't use any oil. Bigger brakes are definitely an improvement. Hoping to do my headers one of these days.

I did get all the service record for this truck from the local dealership. It had the spindles and calipers/brakes replaced under warranty at 35k miles. Also the rear leaf springs replaced at 77k miles, the right rear axle bearing, seal and retainer, about 90k. O2 sensors replaced one at 77k and the other at 122k. He did have the timing belt and waterpump replaced with major service at the dealership, also including cooling flush and transmission flush, all done at 99k. I just replaced the sparkplugs with denso.
I guess I have to look into the ball joint!
Thanks

:rapture:Welcome to TS! On my 2002 SR5 I had over 150K on it and it was still running like a top. I wrecked it because of a faulty aftermarket wheel failure.

'02 here with just a hair under 111K miles. Just had the transmission flushed on Wednesday. That's at least the second time it's been flushed, first time was just before I bought it when the dealer had it. Other than regular maintenance, the only thing I've had go out was both front O2 sensors a little over 90K (couldn't get Toyota to cover it without facing a possible diagnosis fee).
Don't know if they're still around, but there was at least one person on these boards who had over 300K miles on one, even posted a picture of the odometer at 300K.

My 01 AC V8 has over 151,000 miles on it now. The original transmission has no problems so far and I do tow with it. I last did a flush myself (the method discussed on the forums where you take fluid out of the cooler lines while running and refill...) at around 110,000 miles and previously around 70-80k. Not sure what the previous owner did before that. I will once again when its warmer.

Other that that I have just done brakes, oil, plugs and the battery. The previous owner had an axle seal replaced. Amazingly the rear brakes and headlights are still originals as far as I can tell.

I just bought a 2004 with 152k on it. I can't believe how nice it rides. Engine is nice and smooth and the tranny shifts real good. Doing the t/belt, water pump and what ever else is in there this week. Need some tailgate cables and a latch for the rear access windows. Other than that seems good.

My 2000 SR5 AC has 154k miles on. I lost the radiator and most of my tranny fluid @ 130k. Crappy plastic radiators. I've replaced 4 drive side axle seals, the latest last week. This hasn't made me happy. The tranny is starting to hard shift on me and I'm hoping it's a u-joint. Overall is been a very good truck.

I have a 00 with a little over 276,000 on it.
No major parts yet - but it's starting to growl underneath. Maybe the rear end, haven't determined the source.

I'm on my third HVAC blower motor, my fourth set of rotors (which are shot), and I put a fuel pump in this year.
Other than that - no trouble.

I am at 328,000 miles. Nothing major. On my 3rd timing belt, lost count on brakes replacement, new rotors, several windshields, and other little things.

Holy crap! 328k? I thought I was the winner here or something.
Oh yeah, windshields, I forgot about the windshields! I need one of those right now too.
Mine regularly hauls a 18 foot trailer w/tractor & brush hog, and has been known to carry a ton of rock, or whatever else I can think to use it for. That may account for the noise that's presenting itself in the drivetrain.

My wifes Lexus LX450 has 225k on it, no problems either - well, except putting gas in it - other than that though, it's good.

ETA: I see from your pics that yours is no stranger to hard work either - I thought maybe you babied it, there goes that theory!
