We just finished installing the AVIC-D3 with bluetooth adaptor, ipod adaptor and XM radio and Navtraffic on our 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS. Everything looks good and according to Pioneer and Crutchfield is installed correctly and works well but when you turn on the car, there is this constant scratching noise and we do get a slight engine whine when we drive. We used the harness allowing us to utilize the manufators amp.

Any thoughts as to what is causeing the scratching noise?

The likely cause is improper grounding... without knowing about your unit or how you installed it, how is it connected. If you used the harness ground, on high power units often don't get grounded sufficiently by the thin harness ground wire. My suggestion is to run the ground directly to the chassis.
