AVS vs WeatherTech bug defflector

I recently had my truck repaired from a collision. I loved the look of the bug deflector from the factory (which is apparently discontinued). The original mounted on brackets off the front of the grille and I believe two mounting points under the hood by the headlights.

AVS and WeatherTech both seem to mount by removing the grille, securing the shield with double sided tape and replacing the grille. Won't this create a significant fit and finish gap with the grill to hood ?!

Anyone have any experience with this, or know of any shields that mount more like the original shield ?
