I was looking into getting a westin ultimate bull bar for my 2008 dbl cab 4x4, but when I looked at the install instructions I noticed that you need to remove the tow hooks. Has anyone installed one? And should I need to "hook up" in the front will the bull bar support the weight of the truck being pulled or me pulling something?

The bull bar is more for show than for any practical use. I wouldn't subject it to any pulling or pushing. You do have to remove the tow hooks and then it mounts only with 4 bolts at the bottom which physically can't tolerate too much pressure either way. Looks good though IMO.

The lights do look good mounted to the bull bar and it is drilled for the wiring.

Jk, but I reallyw ant a bumper dumper haha.

Bullbars are definitely a fashion statement. THey will protect your bumper in a 3 mph crash, but wills till bend (saw it happen).

You do not have to remove your towhooks, You can find my post on Tundratalk where I put my bullbar on and left my towhooks on I think it was the Bullbar I got and some others may have different brackets, but I got more compliments on my truck after I put the bullbar on

I personally would only put one on that is functional and offers additional protection. Toyota Australia has a lot of parts that I wish they would start carrying over here

Hmm, I wonder if ANY of those are just overpriced ARB products :loco:

ARB makes a nice product, but I would want the ARB logo on it so as not to pay the Toyo premium :eyebrows:
