Question about Tundra aftermarket Head unit with the factory rear dvd.

1. Has anybody that has the facoty rear, dvd changed out their Head Unit?
2. Will the RSE still work without the head unit?
3. Full usability or limited?

I have been trying to get this question answered for 2 years

It will not. I Tried it,DVD will not even power on w/o HU. I returned the Eclipse HU i bought because of this. Have not figured out a way around the factory HU.

easy way to answer the question. pull out the head unit and try to use the rses.

Well I actually knew it wouldn't work with out any head unit. I've been trying to find out if there is an adapter or harness to make it work with my pioneer head unit.

So just like the factory JBL amp the Rear DVD ECU receives a signal from the factory HU to power on/off. On top of that there are signals sent back and fourth allowing the DVD to play radio stations or cd's in the Factory HU, and to send the audio from DVD to the HU.

Plain and simple, the dvd ECU is powered on by the factory HU.

There is out there a module that allows you to still use the factory amp with an aftermarket HU sold my metraonline, Metra Online

There might be some way to make it send the signal to the DVD ECU to power on which is what it does for the JBL amp.
