Yeah, this information has been around for a while...but it is great information. For those who don't know, they are talking about the age a tire was manufactured and the code number on your tire that shows it. At the end of the DOT number there is a number like 0402, which would mean it was made during the 4th week of 2002. I thought it was interesting that Ford put out a warning only after having some many tire failures with Firestone a while back...and the Explorers rolling over. It is scary, and everyone buying tires should know this information. Especially if you're buying used tires on your local classifieds. I'm not sure I would ever have a tire last six years, but I guess it's a good rule of thumb. I had a set of Michelin's on my Sequoia from new that started cracking after a few years.
