coil spacer differences

Searched daystar, revtek, cornfed, etc. Could someone clarify which spacer mounts above strut assembly (not changing the springs preload), and which ones mount between top of spring and top retainer (increasing the springs preload)? I know one brand (daystar?) splits the spacers so one is within the assembly and one is on top the assembly. Any confirmation?

Any experience (pro vs con) between the different types of spacers?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can tell you about mine. I have been running 1 inch Polyurethane Daystars for almost 4 years on my 03 stepside. They mount above the strut assembly and DO NOT change the ride at all. I kept the Lexus like ride that I like so much. No problems 4 years later, still in perfect shape. Cheap too, 60 bucks on Ebay and 35 bucks to install. Good luck.
