I have a 2006 DC XSP 4x4. I LOVE THIS TRUCK! It came stock with Enkei 20" rims and 295/45R20 tires. Those low profile, H rated tires, make a 4x4 useless. So I added a 2.5" leveling kit and 1.25" wheel spacers and put on 285/55 tires. When I did, the higher angle split the inner boots. I researched and found a place in Colorado, CVJREMAN.COM.
These guys are awesome! They do not supply cheap, Chinese steel. They only supply OEM factory rebuilt CV axles. The offer 3 levels of quality boots, including silicon ones for the higher angle.
Originally I ordered the middle grade axle with standard OEM rubber inner boot but that only last 1-1/2 yr. They split due to the angle making the boot ribs rub against each other. So I ordered the silicon boots and replaced them myself. It wasn't too bad and I've never done that. I highly recommend these guys if you are in need of cv axles.
The boots came with 2 kinds of clamps and 3 packs of grease each. I had to call them several times with questions during the rebuild and they are supper friendly and helpful and really knowledgeable. One thing they told me was to only clamp the large side down when installing the boot. Install the axle, put everything back together and let truck down and then slide the small end down the shaft so that the ribs ate spaced out in a relaxed state and not rubbing each other. Then install the small clamp.
Again, I highly recommend these guys. You get quality parts and exceptional customer service.

Well good to know, but also you lift up so much you should do the Diff drop.

Yea, I have heard that. You think 2.5" is enough to require that? How fo you do a diff drop anyway? Sounds like pretty involved and expensive. Is it something easily done yourself at home?

I haven't put mine on yet but it's just a longer bolt with a spacer. I think it's a pretty quick job.

Ok, looked at some videos of diff drops and it looks pretty simple. If I can pull the axles and replace the boot, I think I can handle the drop. However, I've already spent the money for the silicon boots which should last years. If I gave work on them again, I'll do the drop at that time.

What boots did you end up going with? I was planning on adding my lift in the spring but my stock boots are getting pretty worn, so I should probably do those sooner rather than later.

The boots are the RT50 red silicon ones. If your axles are good and not clicking or noisy, go with that. If you want to replace the entire axle with the the boot already on it, go with the 9550TR.
