It seems this may be a better place to pose this question than in the general first gen section. Anyone know the answer?

I want to get a used 04 A340F to put in 02 Tundra. I do alot of towing and want to make sure the manufacture date is in 04 to get past all the Planetary issues that A340f's had in the past. Is there a part number sequence on the trans tag that tells the manufacture date? thanks

It will say right on the tag (passenger side) Aisin A340E or A340F. I too am looking for an 03-04 A340F with corrected thrust bearing for planetary. The A340E’s are the 00-02 trans’ with the failure points.
My 00’ 4x4 is just starting to get the rumble noise in OD and hard/late engagements.
