I don't know your answer, but a dealer of camper tops could easily tell you if the part #s are the same.
I don't know your answer, but a dealer of camper tops could easily tell you if the part #s are the same.Would a camper shell (Snugtop Supersport) off a double cab fit on a access cab truck? From pics it seems like the rear cab profile is pretty similar, don't know about width and length though. Found a nice used one off craigslist, right color, but it's off a DC.
Hey Caarson, no, it's not Sonoma, it's east bay somewhere. I know the bed dimensions between DC and AC are pretty close, how's your fit to the back of the cab, does the profile match pretty well? And when you say the corners rub, where exactly does it rub? When you put it on, did you pull off the bed rail caps first? Got any pictures of your shell on your truck? I'm still debating whether I want a cap or not, mainly I would be using it as an alternative to a tent when camping. I still like the look of the truck better without a cap though, and it's easier to carrier tall things and bulk materials like mulch, they can just drop it in the bed with a front end loader. Too hard for me to decide!I just bought a supersport snugtop off craigslist. It came off a 2005 double cab. I have a 2001 SR5 access cab. Just attached it today, seems to fit perfectly except possibly rubbing the paint in the corners.
I see you are in San Jose and I'm wondering if you saw the one listed in Sonoma. I've been looking off and on for about the last year for that color and style!
To answer your question, yes they do make a 2005 Access Cab (I have one!), as well as a 2006.Thomas, I kept the rail caps on. It just seems like maybe the fiberglass hangs a little lower on the sides of my truck at the corners. I might put another spacer in but when I look not really a big deal. So the shell came off a 2005 DC ( do they make a 2005 access cab?) and it fits my 2001 SR5 great. Also I believe my shell is an extra vision not supersport as I thought originally.
The cab and top are flush and the I think the colormatched shell looks pretty cool. I am going to go with the storage, security, sleeping setup for awhile.
I mostly got the shell for camping also so I can sleep near the surf spot without setting up a tent. There is a guy at bajataco.com ( Tacoma Camper) who shows a nice sleeping platform, storage underneath setup for his baja tacoma. Check it out, other good ideas there, too.
I wasn't going to spend the money for a brand new snugtop but I got a very nice used one for $985 with Yakima racks included. Possibly can post a pic later this week.
