Can you drive a manual hub converted Tundra w/o the outer stub (front axle) installed? It is not torqued so I am wondering if you need it in there? The only reason I could see is keeping dust out, but I could easily be looking over some major reason why I cannot. I tried searching for this but I kept getting ADD threads only.

Yes, you can do it safely...that's one of the benefits of switching to manual hubs, is the hub becomes full float, rather than the stock semi float design.

You'll get gunk in the socket, tho. More of an emergency thing...or if you went 2WD LT from manual hubs with stock spindles, put something over the hole to keep dirt out of the bushing, in case you ever want to throw the axles back in.
