Yeah. Fellow Engine Feather Duster here.

Never had a problem with my cables, but when I took over maintenance years ago I read they could become a problem on the forums from others. What I did as a preventative maintenance measure was (make sure to clean off any corrosion first) and put a few drops of 3in1 Oil on the terminal ends and hold it so the oil would wick down into the jacket. After that I put a few dabs of NoAlox on the Braided Ends for future protection. Slathered up the Clamps and Battery Posts with the same. Its Electric Nirvana.

Another thing I did was remove and clean up every Grounding Point on the Engine/Body and apply the Grease. There are about 6-8 major grounds that are accessible. Many of our truck problems stem from bad/worn/corroded grounding.

Back of block on either side between firewall and engine. Just behind Valve Covers. Other ((hidden one) under engine under truck driverside near transmission engine connection. Follow the wire down from battery area then crawl under and look its a big one.
