Just purchased an '08 HL 2WD with 38k miles on it. This is a Toyota Certified Vehicle. We were offered the extended warranty out to 100k miles for $1290. Told them we'd let them know Monday. The brochure says it's only available at the time of vehicle purchase from the dealer. I see that lot's of folks are buying them from other dealers who appear to be discounting the product. Can I do this with a used Certified vehicle or am I really limited to the dealer we purchased from?

Many thanks. Great info here.

If it's "Toyota Certified," it should already have

  • 3-Mth/3,000-Mile Comprehensive Warranty
  • 7-year/100,000-mile ltd power train warranty
  • 7-year/100,000-mile roadside assistance plan
  • 160-pt quality assurance inspection
  • CARFAX Vehicle History Report
So...If you feel you need more than that, go for the warranty...but the number they're quoting you for a used 2WD model seems high... I don't think I paid much more than that for the ext warranty on my 2010 4WD Sport I bought new at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb...Negotiate it down some more :)

I had an 08 FWD Highlander (bought new when they first came out) up until January and I LOVED it...until a Scion xD doing 60 hit me while I was stopped at a light and totaled it... :(

Good Luck!
