I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra Crew Cab with Front Bucket Seats and a center console with the shifter in the center console.

Has anyone ever relocated the shifter to the column and put a foldable center console where the center console is?

The Quad Cabs have the center seat that I am after and I am sure that I could easily get the seat covered to match the leather that I did to it already. I am mainly just wondering how hard it is to relocate the shifter to the steering column.

I remember seeing a picture from someone here (I think it was during a radio install...) where they removed their seats & the carpets..... oh, here it is: (sorry to steal your pic JumboJet !!!)

It looks like it may be a B!TCH to change that out.... Maybe it can be done, but looks like alot of work, since it's a dedicated assembly for the floor-shifter. Good luck...

It would probably be easier and cheaper to sell your current truck and buy another one equipped the way you would prefer.
I wish it would be cheaper to sell my truck and get one equipped the way I prefer but you need to see what I have into my truck already. I am upside down on it already and I love it. So unless the conversion costs more than $5,000 I would probably lose less money than starting over.

Not a bad idea; I've thought about this also for my double cab. I'd rather have the bench seat and open floor area. (it's a pain to carry a rifle in the front seat if you have the console.) I've also thought about taking doing the conversion but leaving my bucket seats. This would provide a pass-through from the front to rear.

I think your best bet is to find a donor vehicle at the salvage yard... or someone wanting your console with who you can swap. Let me know how it turns out.

Wow, would you really be willing to spend thousands for an extra seat up front? Why do you need the seat so bad, if you don't mind me asking.

I sometimes wish I had the bench seat up front. I use my console for sure but it would be nice to seat one more person sometimes!!! I would do the swap or conversion for sure... as long as the price wasn't to high..

I need to find a wrecked Tundra to pull the bench seat and all the column shifter components.... The wife wants a Sienna.... I would rather convert the Tundra to seat 6 and not have to worry for awhile..

The dash is also different so you would need those parts as well and the carpet.
Cost would depend on how much work you did and how well you negotiated with the j/y.
Its just the bottom section that is different, it looks interchangeable. the column shfter looks like the hardest thing to get past.... other than finding the parts for cheap

We can trade! The bench seat is great but I'm willing to part with it for the supercharger! Lol

So there's no way to install the gear selector in the center console?
I really have no idea.... IF the trans is wired to the selector then replacing the column should be all it takes, plus the seat and the dash pieces. Most everything on the Tundra seems to be plug and play. I really need to find a truck to pull from so I can get all the small pieces that are needed.

I have thought about leaving the center mounted shifter... Maybe trying to find someone to build a custom surround for it.. Kind of like a manual shift truck would be in a bench seat truck..I think that would work too... AND it would be a lot easier than replacing the column

Now I am wondering how far the stock center seat would come to the shifter.... I have never been in a bench seat Tundra before but I am guessing the shifter assembly would be far enough forward to let the center seat be installed...
