I sometimes wish I had the bench seat up front. I use my console for sure but it would be nice to seat one more person sometimes!!! I would do the swap or conversion for sure... as long as the price wasn't to high..

I need to find a wrecked Tundra to pull the bench seat and all the column shifter components.... The wife wants a Sienna.... I would rather convert the Tundra to seat 6 and not have to worry for awhile..

The dash is also different so you would need those parts as well and the carpet.
Cost would depend on how much work you did and how well you negotiated with the j/y.
Its just the bottom section that is different, it looks interchangeable. the column shfter looks like the hardest thing to get past.... other than finding the parts for cheap

So there's no way to install the gear selector in the center console?
I really have no idea.... IF the trans is wired to the selector then replacing the column should be all it takes, plus the seat and the dash pieces. Most everything on the Tundra seems to be plug and play. I really need to find a truck to pull from so I can get all the small pieces that are needed.

I have thought about leaving the center mounted shifter... Maybe trying to find someone to build a custom surround for it.. Kind of like a manual shift truck would be in a bench seat truck..I think that would work too... AND it would be a lot easier than replacing the column

Now I am wondering how far the stock center seat would come to the shifter.... I have never been in a bench seat Tundra before but I am guessing the shifter assembly would be far enough forward to let the center seat be installed...

Can anyone vouch for the space between the seat and the dash?

I think it would be really close!!!

If anything modding the seat or shifter would be "easier" than moving the shifter to the column.. For all I know, the shifter can be placed anywhere the wires will let it go.... I wouldn't want to push it forward... but if i had to tilt it...

Needless to say, I probably want the bench seat more than its worth... But the idea of having the wife sit that close... well that make it worth it

I have never looked into the push button shifters. I am not sure what has that kind of system in it to swap into the Tundra. It would be cool to mount it to the dash and have it up and out of the way.

Thanks PoPo!!

I think it comes down to IF the attching points are all there, plus the carpet being complete under the console. The Shifter is not a huge deal.. If it takes up 5-6 inches of space then a child/ small adult can sit there. It would be really cool to find a truck to pick off of. Maybe even find a console styl truck to look at before I tear into my CM..

Its to bad that I can't just go outside and look at my Tundra to see what would work. RIght now it will have to be just a loose plan.. Unless someone else wants the bench seat as much as I do.
