got a call today

so my dealership called me today saying that my truck was due to come in and get new lower ball joints! Bad thing about it is i just ordered the 2.5" donahoe spacers and i was going to get them installed then take it in, therefore avoiding an extra alignment (and paying for it), however they seemed pretty busy with them for the next few weeks therefore i have to settle for this tuesday...

I would have said that I am going out of town, family vacation, sping break, or whatever you could drive to. Then tell them I will call them to re-schedule it when I am back.
but who knows if by then they would have the parts and etc

Just drive in with a different vehicle, grab the parts from them, tell them your brother has your truck for the next couple of weeks and that you don't want YOUR parts given to somebody else.

ehh its too late now though. the appointment has already been setup and it will still be 5 days for the spacers to come in from wheelers. might sound fishy if i call right back after i set up the appointment with them.
How would it sound fishy...call back say ohh crap I forgot I am lending my truck to my brother for a couple of days he is moving and needs the truck.

What will they care, you are the customer, if your friend needs the truck cuz his ol' lady kicked him out, its none of their business.

Besides, the service manager might know exactly what its like. lol
Sick family memeber out of town allways works and slap it on deep!! only going for couple days to a week!
And if you cancel now rather than in a couple of days, they will probably fill that spot on the worksheet with some other vehicle, and won't even care.

im gonna see what i can do

That's not the attitude you need.

Its YOUR truck, you are going to have it worked on at YOUR convenience,
to fix THEIR mistake.

If your fat aunt Edna can't fit into the front of the Accord and needs to be delivered in the rear of your Tundra, to Grandpa's funeral, then that's how it has to be. lol
Wait a minute.

Your profile says you have a 2003 Tundra.

Why is it being recalled this time around?

i dont know they told me a year ago the ball joints were being recalled and they would be contacting me, but now they are finally getting around to it.

LOL...they told you a year ago and they are finally getting to it now. That is awesome, in the funny way not the fact that you will loose your truck for a day. They probably waited just upto the time your warranty will expire so they can do the work half assed, get paid warranty from Toyota and make you came back 6 months later to have them redo and get paid again out of your pocket. Thats what my delarship does, dont ask how my brake TSB went .

i hope not. so far they have been good.
As time goes they get more ball joints. Just tell them you won't make it and do your lift then call and schedule a drop off. No biggie. I have heard nothing about mine and told them I am dropping it off tomorrow so they are for warned. They can not tell you when they are going to do it. You decide. There is not a limited # of Ball joints more will come in.
