hi, well as you know i removed my unichip.
so i decided to buy gumout's best fuel/engine treatment.
they make several type's.
i bought the most expensive 1, due to the fact it say's it cleans, 10x better than lucas fuel treatment, and cleans alot of parts.
well my mileage dropped to 11 mpg without my unichip.

i made a mistake 1st by buying the product & 2nd not running out all the fuel.
i am on my 3rd tank.

i finally saw as of last night , after the panther VS devils hockey game.
that my mileage is back.
how i can tell is from full to 1/2, i should have driven 150miles.
thats my average.
well i did 158miles, so not bad.

but i am going to run this tank dry.
when the gas dash light comes on, i'm going to go approximatly another 40 miles. than fill up.

i know many call it snake oil. whatever.

all i know is it makes you burn gas.
so it does something. drain your pockets for sure.

don't make the same mistake i did.

i read the ad, & saw what is suppose to do, compared to lucas, so i said why not.
it's got to help clean everything.
they have pictures.
before & after. so they sold me on it.

if you ever get a vehicle mag, & you come across the ad, please don't use it!~!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe it did do a great job, i'm not taking apart my motor to see.
but rest assured, i'll never ever put this in my tundra again.

not only was it i think over $10 bucks, but the cost of 3 tanks of gas, to get rid of the stuff,
because i re-fueled at 1/2 a tank, than a 1/4 tank.
so i belive it was still in the gas.
that is why i want to run it dry, as best as i can, without running out of fuel of course.
i might just take a gas container, & fill it with 4gallons , in case this happens.

i'm just glad to see that i'm getting what i used to, with my unichip.
so i would say it's about 14ish per gallon.
i know it should be around 16.
i know i went up 3+miles per gallon.
thank god.
it's headed in the right direction. ^UP!

so my hope is when i run all the fuel out, and replace the fuel.
i get 16mpg, before i re-install the unichip.
that should be in about 2 to 3 week's.

as for the power difference, i can't tell you yet, becasue i have to make the scanguage dead on.
so adjustments need to me made in the programming of the scanguage2 3.15 X-guage.
i'll let you know.
when i have the correct setting.
this gumout messed with everything.:beatsme:

also don't forget that FL gas stations ad ethanol = kills gas mileage

you should have used Amsoil P.i. Performance Improver instead, they guarantee it works or your money back. One bottle costs about $10 and treats 20gallons of gas.

so let me get this strait, you jumped 3mpg after using the engine cleaner? I'd say thats a positive result, sir.

you missed what i said. please re-read it.
i used to get 16mpg before the unichip.

but after the install of the gum out i got 11mpg.
than after my 3rd tank i jumped +3mpg=14
i expect to get 16 or close to it, without my unichip.
so yes, it's getting better as this snake oil comes out.
but i'm hoping for 16 again.
once i install my unichip ,i know due the cutsom tune, and the power increase, i will loose it, but it's well worth it. when i get 268rwhp & 296rwtorque! ;-)
i hope that clears that up.
i will try next time, what the mod. said.
thanks,
gorilla

hi, i would hope so, since you have 1/2 the power.
gorilla
Right... since you only have what, 20 more hp than me stock? So you are putting down over 400 hp now? Not to mention I have 38s and heavy *** axles. But like said above, you used it and got better results. Just because you put it in and didn't see an improvement on your first tank doesn't mean that it didn't work. It may take a few tanks for it to take effect. Not to mention the computer might have to re-learn some difference if it did clean the injectors and what not.

apimpdad you might be right, it might take a few tanks. well this is my 3rd.
but 1st, this i will be the only tank full i'll be running till it's almost empty.
25+gallons i hope.

here is how my gas guage works. we did a thread about this.

from full to 3/4 is 100 miles,
than from 3/4 to 1/2 is 50 miles,
than from 1/2 to 1/4 is another 50 miles.
than from 1/4 till my gas light goes on is about 86 miles. a little above the last line(empty).
which is about right 100 miles.
so far i did 300 miles.
but i have around 4.5 to 5gallons left in my tank, when the light comes on.
everyone's tank & guage is some what different.

but i don't cruise at 2000rpms. more like 3000 till 5600ish
i play alot, 95% of the time.
i'm usually playing.
and off the line, out in front.
so i know if i run like a snail it would be better, but no fun, no playing.
BORING!!!!!!!
i road race & 1/8 & 1/4mile runs AT THE TRACK! ;-)
so gas at high rpms, is always going to blow through a tank.
i tried that 2000rpm deal. i never made it past 2days.
god only knows how anyone keeps it 2000rpms & under.

my point is it is getting better, as time goes on.
i'm hoping for the 16mpg city. where it once was.
even playing.
my new rubber will be here soon, & than i will have to brake the tires in a little 1st.
it's all coming together. i can't wait. i have a few thing's left to do.

hi all, today i hit the 1/4 mark on my gas guage.
i'm at 225 miles.
thats 25 more miles than i had before.
i used to get 200 miles w/the custom tuned unichip.
so i belive my mileage is returning to normal.
or better than normal.
i'll keep you up-dated.
so apimpdad i guess you were right, i does take several tank's.
thank god, i didn't continue to get that 11mpg.
so i belive it was the GUMOUT that makes you burn gas.

Have you guys given any thought that burning these chemicals also has a detrimental effect on your emissions system? Oxygen sensors? Cats? Why do you insist on challenging the ECU? North America has excellent fuel quality.

About the only thing I'd put into my combustion stream is Techron. It is designed to not chemically alter gasoline stoichiometry (14.7:1). Can you say that about all those others "cleaners"??

Just burn clean gas from a station that has a high turnover.

hi, today it seems every gas station i find has something in it. ethonol, or some form of cleaner added to the ethonol.
such as shell, chevron. there used to be a mobil that didn't have the sign ethonal up to 10%. so i used to go there.
now they have that sign. i wish there was a pure gas , gas station in my area of south florida.
i admit i made a mistake. live & learn.
just glad it back.
i hope it get's to 15 or 16mpg.
that's all i'm hoping for, if this end's up giving me more 17 or 18 great.
i never ever seen 17 or 18. so i have my doubt's.
than i can say, it worked, but after 3 tanks.
the 1st week or so, brand new tundra, i got 9mpg.
i almost freaked out. i could have bought the viper pick-up.
but as time went on, it did get better, the best was 14, until i added my volant cai,
it gave me 2more mpg, so i as excited i was getting 16mpg, than came the UNICHIP.
but the power increase was so much, i lost interest in caring about mileage.
especially after i had it tuned correctly.
i seen more dyno's than i care for.
but it had to be done, to dial it in.
so i still have about 1/4 to go plus the reserve. whatever that is.
than a new start. i'm keeping my finger's crossed. so far so good.

I was at the dealer on tuesday, and they gave me some toyota brand injector cleaner, which I did not know existed. I'll be running it through this week, it says right on the bottle not to let it sit in the tank for any longer to "avoid possible damage to fuel lines".

hey gorilla,

today i'm out in my shop and an ad for the gumout product comes on the radio station i'm listening to. even said it was better than the lucus stuff just like you mentioned earlier. looks like there is a major ad campaign going on right now for the gumout product. maybe they should have called it gumup???? if you think about it... probably wise to stay away from any kind of additive for your vehicle that has the word "gum" in it. i dunno???

Is it possible that the ECU is now running rich (or at least not normal) because you had the Unichip installed and now removed it? Could take some time to re-calibrate to the proper settings. The Unichip sits in front of the ECU and alters what it thinks its seeing for A/F ratios etc. Now that it is gone the ECU is calibrating itself again and may take a few tank fulls to get the settings normal.
Seems to make sense to me as your mileage is getting better as time goes by. Hence your ECU is now adjusting back to what it thinks is "normal".

Just a thought?

hi,
unichip or without unichip takes your ECU unit a MAX 50 miles to adjust.
mine takes about 30miles to adjust.
my unichip was out a while before i added the GUMOUT.
so the ECU should have had time to adjust back.
than i added the GUMOUT BS!
the only thing i can say like i said before, is it's back to normal.
i think i'm going to be getting 16mpg again. not sure yet.
i don't want to jump the gun.
i couldn't imagine 11mpg & than i reinstalled the unichip, & i got 7mpg. OMG :-(
but thats not going to happen,
now since i'm back up +25 miles to the 1/4 mark on the gas guage to 225miles.
so like i said it's moving in a better direction.
just don't use it, or you will have, what i have had happen.
you would be sorry. i just wonder what is in that stuff.
hey i could be wrong, & in the end, it clean's everything,
& it run's much better, & gas mileage goes up a couple of mpg.
i just don't know yet. i i won't want anyone to get the wrong info.
that is why, this thread needed to be written.
i thought it was important to let you all know,
what would happen to you. but in the end.
the jury is still out.
