Well i'm stumped. My 2001 with 146,xxx miles is starting to shift extremely hard in 2nd and third gear. I have the V8 with auto tranny. I check the fluid level and it burned a whoel quart!!!! no leaks i checked. I filled the tranny back up and semi fixed the problem. Now when i put it in gear i have to put my foot on the break and give it a little gas to get it to go into any gear, ie Drive, or Reverse. Any ideas whats wrong guys? Thanks

I had the same hard shifting issue. An Auto-Rx treatment followed by a series of drain/fills with Mobil-1 Synthetic ATF fixed it for me. Link to purchase Auto-Rx in my sig below.

I had an old chevy that had a similar problem, and it ended up being the torque converter. The last tranny I had to replace was out of my 97' Lexus ES300, and it was the OD that went out at 97K...and cost me $4k to rebuild. The tranny shop did mention a customer that had been changing the tranny oil with synthetic, and it kept it alive for a while. Good luck with yours!
