I'll be replacing my rear bumper that got smashed in a parking lot by some ahole (while I was in a store) and was thinking about having it painted the body color first. Has anyone done this? How is it holding up? Anything special about the paint job?

Mine was chrome, now it is not. The rear bumper is easy to remove. I sandblasted it thoroughly but not enough to strip the chrome, as this is not necessary. Just rough it up so the paint will stick. Then I sprayed it with zinc chromate primer / sealer, then color topcoat. Use good quality catalysed automotive paint, no rattle cans.

Was thinking about painting mine and through these forums went with the Line X XTRA for front and rear Bumpers. my wife should have it back by Monday all ready for my return, it looks very sharp and they can color match too if your into it, looks really good IMO

I had mine done 3 years ago. No problems at all, did door handles at same time.
