I purchased a 2007 Tundra SR5 Double Cab 5.7L V-8 used. This pickup has the Toyota VIP remote start option but, it does not have keyless entry. When I lock the doors, the red pickup flashes in the INFO panel about once every 3 seconds. It does not set off any alarm when I open the door manually in this mode.

What I am trying to figure out is what my best alarm options are. I only got one remote and one key so, I'm guessing a second remote will cost me ~$100 and a factory alarm ~$300 plus ~$100 for a Glass Break Sensor.

Should I consider an aftermarket alarm system that would retain my remote starter and door lock/unlock functions?

That light you see in the dash that flashes every 3 seconds is a reminder that the vehicle immbolizer is functioning. This light is not the alarm light.

i agree with above regarding the red light...

but...i thought all Sr5s and above had keyless entry? mine does......

If you have a 5.7, you have the alarm. It is just not "activated".

The alarm will work with or without the Glass Break Sensor(GPS). I bought my GPS from Sparks Toyota (they support this site)
