My problem was very different, it ended up being an electrical connection, as described to me by the service manager a wire to the fuel pump relay was partially connected by the left side kick panel. . . not sure if it entirely makes sense but they fixed mine too eventually and now two weeks this truck drives fine again.
I was over 50,000 miles but I had bought the extended warranty, which is a good thing because it took them countless hours in the shop to find the problem.
