I'm to the point of Crankshaft bolt removal on my 2002 Tundra Timing Belt replacement. First of all I hope that the bolt turns CCW to loosen? I have a Husky Impact wrench that is capable of producing 750 ft.lbs of force at 90 psi. I had the Impact wrench pounding it for about 20 seconds and the bolt did not move. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks for the responce! I thought I was positive that CCW was correct but when it wouldn't come off doubt set in. I will try for a longer time and if that doesn't work I will increase the presure.
I have another question for someone dealing with setting the Timing Belt at #1 TDC. My Haynes states to put the vehicle in neutral and then rotate the Crankshaft CW until the Timing marks align but the FSM does not mention putting it in neutral. Do you have to put it in neutral in order to turn the Crankshaft CW? Thanks!

truck should be on neutral to rotate crankshaft.before remove old belt use a sharpie to remark the belt.to get familiar with the marks, the 2 camshaft marks align with yellow dots on pulleys, and the hardest one is the crankshaft that aligns with a dot on crank.I think is tricky cause there is more than one mark if i remember.Just make that crank mark align with the plastic cover that say 0 degrees.

Doesn't the Crankshaft turn when the engine is started in Park? I turned the key and tried to put the truck in neutral but it would not shift out of park. I'm past the point of starting the engine and putting it in neutral. How can I get it in neutral without starting the engine? Do I have to roll the vehicle to get it in the position to put in neutral? Thanks!

This is how i did it when installing my underdrive pulley. Take the correct size socket and ratchet and put it on the crankshaft nut, then take a long breaker bar and snake it onto the handle of the ratchet so the breaker bar is sitting on top of the driver side frame rail. Turn the key and bump the starter without cranking the truck. Do this once or twice and it will bust the nut loose, then just remove. Easy as pie.
