Hey guys, ive posted here before looking for help with a sleeping platform. I am once again reaching out to see what works/has worked for you. Im trying to decide how tall to make my platform without compromising too much head room. I am wondering how tall everyone is making their platform. Im not interested in putting my mattress on the floor, been there done that. I am going to be building out a platform I already have but want some input on your specs. I am 6'3 and would like enough room to partially sit up. right now with the mattress in the back it is the perfect amount of space.

I am thinking with my mattress on top of the platform I would like it to be even with the top of the rear wheel wells. Does anyone have experience with sleeping at this height and was that enough room for you? im going to be mocking this up this weekend but any input is appreciated.

I will be building out 2 drawers a little more then half the length of the platform and eventually cutting the platform and putting it on hinges to fold back so I can utilize the passenger row of seats but leave the platform in the truck. I will post pictures along the way and through out the build.

Here is a picture of my starting platform. It is a "stretching table" I got from work and is a perfect starting platform for my build. Thanks for any and all feedback. Its appreciated.

**Sorry for the sideways photos**

So I started to dismantle my already built starting platform today. Price on that thing was $1,100 new... dang. I took off one of the front siding pieces and will use this for the front of each drawer so when closed it has a clean look and fits flush. Ill be cutting it in half over the weekend and installing a center running board to mount the inner rails for each drawer. I also got a shelf from work today and will be modifying it to slide in/under the platform. Im not sure if im going to use this for a custom cooler slide out or modify it to work as a drawer.

A lot of people leave the second row in their sequoia and build the platform to the row folded up. I will be taking out my second row to maximize sleeping and storage room inside. Im really excited for this build and glad I have a few people interested and watching.

Thank you all for the feedback.

So this is my solution that I created recently:

https://sequoia-forums.com/threads/2006-sr5-gas-hog.252/#post-17261

I'm 6'5" so I wasn't able to take advantage of the 2nd row seats folded forward otherwise I would have made it shorter. Its basically 13" tall and the top of it is even with the highest point of the 2nd row folded down. My next step is to find a 3"-4" mattress for the back.

Thats awesome! Thanks for the link to your sequoia-forums page. Great reference point and "Lessons Learned".

Made some progress on the sleeping platform today. Getting it test fitted was a pain in the ass ONLY because I had to fix my rear hatch and it wasn't the handle. I had been in there um about 8 months ago trying to fix it and broke the cable haha. I went back in today and was able to actuate the door manually from inside. I then tied a piece of pcord around the piece that actuates it and fed it through one of the holes on the door so now I have an easy pull draw string that tucks under the lift gate when not in use and bypassed the handle completely! Easy fix until the new door latch comes in Wednesday. Might leave the oh **** handle there in case the handle stops working.

** Platform Update **
So I was able to get some time in on the platform today, no drawer work yet but had to get it in the Sequoia first to see. I cut the legs down to length allowing 10" tall drawers when I can find some time to build them. Ill still have a kitchen on one side, a gear drawer/Misc. on the other and 2 side drawers accessible through the rear passenger doors, a his and a hers. Here are a few pics of how its looking so far.
