I talked to the guy behind that parts counter at the local Toyota dealer I bought my pickup 8 years ago. He said the TRD superchargers are out of production. I'm open to whatever options are available and a smart price/performance ratio.

I could go turbocharged as well but I just don't know who to ask to get started. A used TRD supercharger or a new one store away in the back of inventory somewhere could work and be easier. Ultimately I thought a large efficient turbo that spools slowly would create the greatest power and most excitement but surely that would be a fully custom system.

Just need to know what kind of place to ask, how to ask, and what to expect to pay. I'm going as high as $6,000 total price with labor. Please steer me in some direction, please!

BTW my Tundra is at 32K miles and has a bully dog tuner already(that might be a throw out thing, I'm sure).

Thanks for any advice!

Edit: I found this single turbo kit that looks quite complete and going to be pushing $7500 with labor but seems quite interesting: http://www.marshallmotorsports.org/products/2007-2013-mms-tundra-single-turbo-kit

I'm not the expert but my understanding is if you go turbo you'll need a customize-able tuner like the uni chip. If you get a magnuson supercharger you should be able to get a tune for your bullydog. Good luck.

Thanks, the Bully Dog tuner I have certainly has the tuneability to a TRD or Magnuson supercharger. The turbo kit listed in the link show an AEM Fuel/ignition Controller or much more expensive Haltech stand alone ECU. The turbocharged route will be more complicated and expensive but ultimately better results. Where are they possibly still selling a TRD or Magnuson supercharger complete? I imagine it'll run $4-5K.

Another question along with general forced induction. How is a jetted for similar output nitrous kit in comparison. I would imagine a fuel system upgrade and ECU like the AEC FIC would be necessary. Of course there is the draw back of refills but just curious what other details I could be missing or misinformed on.

Damn, $7600 just for the parts? Were people actually paying this price at the dealers for years? I can't imagine that anything but a insult or joke. If that's how it is then they can keep it. Thanks still.

Forced induction isnt cheap no matter what route you take... But the Magnuson gives you a 30% power increase, mine is at 535hp to the wheels with only the blower on there. It does a 12.9 quarter mile. Sure a turbo itself is less expensive, but after your custom install with all the fab work required it will end up being the same price or more expensive. Also for all you California trucks it is carb approved/smog legal.

You also have a lot of problems tuning the correct air fuel ratio even with a chip and programming.. I'm a Toyota cert ASE Technician and my supervisor who is also a cert tech has a tundra he put twin turbos on and he has had hell trying to get it tuned just right because Toyotas are very picky with aftermarket parts no matter how good the parts are made... I've seen 8 different Pcms go into a Toyota that where rebuilt aftermarket and new aftermarket and the vehicle did not work until we put in a OEM Pcm from Toyo and I've seen the same with alternators some Toyotas don't want nothing but OEM Parts no lie I've heard stories before I seen it with my two eyes and I didn't believe no one till I had to go thru that with a Toyo
