Hopefully I got your attention with the title. I need to figure out how to take the vinyl off of my center console. I have some extra material from my clazzio seat covers and want to use it on the center console. I have to get the "lift top" off the console and some how get the plastic ring off to remove the vinyl. I have taken every nut, bolt screw out of the damn thing and can't figure it out. I have a 2007 Crewmax with bucket seats. If you have a paypal account I will send the first person $5 dollars who can tell me legitimately how to do it. I know it's not much, but at least it's something for your time.It would be even better if you had a PDF ; maybe from a Tundra service manual. I will even give the first person $5 dollars if you can give me a link showing how to do it. Here are a couple pics to give you an idea of what I'm trying to do.

Here is the lid..

Here is the underside of the lid..

Here is one option for the leather...

Here is the other option. It's all gray but with the black stitching.

I know they can be tricky sometimes. I helped my friend with his prius leather deal. That center console was same (took all bolts and nuts off). After I did that, I had to use flat screw driver to separate it.

If you would have asked this a year ago I could walk you through it. However....I can't remember now. I know I had to remove the panel by the rear pass. feet and unbolt the arm rest. From there it gets hazy. I had to put a screw driver in the area I took a picture of, and guide the two pieces past each other to remove the arm rest from the "track". Ill think about it some more.

The reason I had it apart. Needed some light down in that cave.

I have spent hours on google trying with no luck. I don't notice the void anymore and the seats are like the day I got them, without the stink anyway.

The stuff behind the plastic is like a maze of plastic parts. Even with all the hardware out I can't get it to budge.

Its glued on,just rip it off and go ahead with your R/R
I want to get the lid off so i can work on it. I will pull the old stuff off and glue the new stuff on but I have to get under the plastic for a clean look.

I got as far as your pics by pulling the slider foward. I need to pull it all the way off but the medal tracks inside prevent this. I can't get to those stupid tracks.

I know this is real crude but there is a plastic wedge that acts as a stop when sliding the arm rest in and out. If can find that wedge and push it up the arm rest will with some effort slide the rest of the way off. I had it off once and tried to reverse engineer it incase I needed to again but can't remember. Goodluck

Been working on it took it apart (just for you). In the pictures I have the black trim/cover piece thats exposed off. Pops off with a flat blade. They are mirror images so one on each side. Takes a bit of work a long screw drive or something similar to pry them apart but here you go. One zoomed in and one showing the overall.

ok meaning to hijack but im gonna anyway, what are ya'lls thoughts about me swapping my tan cover out for a brown one to match the lower doors and dash in my sand beige interior? or perhaps get someone to sew a two tone one with the brown on the top panel and tan around the sides....thinking it would stay cleaner....thoughts?

I'm thinking I will go with the 2 tone. If I can get all that plastic off that it. My plan is to take the vinyl off and trace it with the new
stuff and then glue it back on. The seat cover also has some padding under it which will make the console feel better. I don't know
about you guys but sometimes I plant my elbow on it to help slide myself in the chair. When I do this I can feel some sharp edges in there
that this padding should help out with.
