Howdy. A puzzler here- I have a 2013 TUndra Crew Max with the 4.6L. I have a Check Engine Light pop-up maybe once every two weeks. It usually comes on when I first start it up in the morning. It may stay on all day, it may stay on for 30 minutes. It is never consistent. I did have it checked at the car parts store and all they said was a P0440 code. But that could be a dozen different causes. How do I narrow it down? How come it is never consistent? Thanks!

Its hard to narrow down because its a code that has to do with the emissions system and vacuum leaks. So those could happen anywhere on the vehicle.
Read this thread, specifically post #4. Victor isnt on here much anymore, if at all, but he's a retired Toyota mechanic. I would take his advice in a heartbeat.
And yes, I know it says thats for a gen 1, but evap codes are the same regardless of what year.
And post back how you make out if you get it fixed.

I had the code checked and came up with P0440. Where can I look up this code? OK, found a site that lists them. Found this:Evaporative Emission Control System:...............now what?
