Is your 07 Tundra drawing attention?

I've had the Tundra almost 5 weeks now. I've only seen one other on the road here in Eugene and that was at the canopy install store.

I've hada guy pull off the road and park next to me at Starbucks just so he could ask me about it. I've come out of a restaurant to find a guy walking around it and looking inside - we then talked about it for about 10 minutes.
Today I went to buy snow chains at Les Schwab - the old ones off my Chevy won't fit - and they were pretty busy - yet 6 of their guys came out to look at the Tundra. I must admit it looks even rarer with the canopy on.

Are your new 07's drawing a lot of attention?

havint got to drive my moms out of town yet :D
Mine is getting the same reaction! Never before have I owned a vehicle that has caused so much attention to it. Not even my 07' Escalade drew this much attention. I think its because I live in truck country where people really take pride in their trucks and are eager to check the new Tundra out. Mine is black/redrock which is the only one that I have seen like it so far. As a matter of fact, I havent seen ANY other Tundra yet in my area. So, for the time being, I feel special:D
Yeah, this will be alot of fun while it lasts. I've had an older model Tundra owner give me "thumbs up" at the stop light, and alot of people stop and ask me about it. At the lights I can see people out of the corner of my eye looking at it. I've only seen one other one in the wild around here. It was Desert Sand Mica I think, and as we passed we both waved to each other and I could see him smiling as he went by. Its kinda like all the Jeep guys or motorcycle guys waving as they pass each other.

1st day driving mine yesterday in a ice storm. Had another one pass me & wave.

His had NJ plates, mine temporary TX ones. We were on the LIE in NY driving past all of the wrecked cars on the road from the storm.
I pulled the badges off mine. Came off really easy. Now everyone is trying to figure out what it is. Side view looks great clean!

I pulled my TRD stickers off of my Silver Sky Metallic last week with no problems. Someone had posted saying the stickers left some stain on the paint, but mine came off clean in about 5 minutes. Then I just rubbed some acrysol over the area to remove a tiny bit of sticker glue.

I know the feeling. My kids even noticed people staring at us on the road. It made them a little uncomfortable at first, but they kind of laugh about it now.
The UPS guy vame and the first words out of his mouth were
"so is it as fast as everyone says it is?"

no "good morning" or "Hello" or "How's it going"

Pics would be awesome!! I plan on doing the same. Did you take off all the badges?
People are continually looking especially DODGE drivers with the Hemi when I blow them off from the lights.

My TSS decal and all badges are coming off.Plan on pulling the trigger Monday.

I live 50 miles west of Austin in a small comunity, I have yet to see another Tundra out here. The local police were following me in town last week. When I pulled into a parking space they turned around and these Chevy owning Officers wanted to check it out. Never owned a truck that gets so much attention, my wife thinks even commented "not sure if its me or the truck", I just smiled and said its you....I lied.

Who's the canopy manufacturer? I have a CrewMax arriving in a couple of weeks, but my local Leer dealer told me I would have to wait 4-6 weeks minimum for a D/C canopy and even longer for a CrewMax?

Could you post some Pic's

Thanks

I've had several Duramax and Ram drivers just turn and stare at intersections. Nicest vehicle I've ever had.
When I first read this thread I figured that most new Tundra owners were probably just imagining all the attention. No way that one new truck would be such a big deal to non-truck people or other truck owners that are probably loyal to what they already own, especially the Ford and Chevy guys. I got the Tundra because I needed a truck, it is made by Toyota, and it is much more comfortable / versatile than the Tacoma. I don't really think about it being a new truck design or anything special, it is just my new truck and I like it the same as anyone would like a new Camry, BMW, or whatever.

I just thought back over the past few weeks and now I can see that my Tundra has definitely made at least a few waves. It started with the people at work wanting to see it and ride in it which is fairly normal for any new vehicle. Then the guys at the LINE-X dealership were very curious about it with several stopping in to the shop just to look at it and ask me about it. Then there were about 3-4 times where another truck would pass me on the highway only to slow down and then come up again on the other side. At first I took this for aggressive driving so I would punch the gas and leave them behind but now I guess it is possible they were just wanting to look the truck over.

Then today I was in a parking lot waiting for the wife to come out when some shifty looking guy cruises down my aisle giving me a dirty look the whole time. He parked and his girlfriend went towards the store but he started to walk towards me, which I thought was odd since I was parked in a spot at the end far away from everything else. I figured he had me confused with someone else or maybe he wanted to start some kind of trouble so I got ready for him, but then he stopped, looked me over a few times, then walked back down the aisle. I couldn't figure out what it was all about until I saw him stop again to look at a Chevy which was parked down near the store. His girlfriend said something about the Chevy but he shook his head no and then pointed to me, then they walked into the store with her frowning and him smiling. Guess he has a fight on his hands before he can get a Tundra...

Just a few hours later I was in another store parking lot loading my bags into the backseat when some guy came up and asked if he could look at my truck while it was open. Said he had a brand new Camry and an 04 Tundra but was thinking about getting a new Tundra soon. He looked it over several times and we talked for 15 minutes before he drove off.

I don't mind answering a few questions or having a few people look at the truck once in a while but to be honest I will be happy when the newness wears off and it is just another vehicle on the road. Attention comes in all flavors including the bad kind and I don't need anything happening to me or my new Tundra so I would prefer to get out of the spotlight. Probably won't help matters when I install all the upgrades and gizmos... ;)
