Fog Lights?

Did it come with fog lights???

I'm about ready to sell the pile of junk I've got just for that very reason.... I could have bought a GM or Ford and had ANYTHING I wanted installed on it for a reasonable cost.... I'm really getting PO'd about this whole fog light deal... Additionally, I paid the $12 and still have no access to the tech about it on this forum... Thanks to I think it was shweggy who respoded with his solution, I just don't want to jerri-rig them in...

Enough of my ranting... To answer your question, I live in Illinois and paid about what you did for a loaded (Yeah, everything but FRICKIN fog lights!) SR5 POS that's soon to be up for sale!!!

thnksno,

PM TundraSoul and let him know that you upgraded to a supporter.

don't know if the 2002s are direct plug ins. i would think that they were since the 02s foglight option was an $80 upgrade. many of us 01 owners had installed them ourselves using shweggy and others instructions and had no problems, our cost was around $250 though.

Fog lights and price?

Yes mine is coming with fog lights....I am told that the factory is pretty much making them standard now... when you say loaded do you mean with leather seats? You say yours is a pile of junk, what do you mean by that. what problems other then the fog light situation are you having?

thanks

Rattles, Grinding Noise Crummy Customer Service

Just some of the problems I've been having lately with Toyota... The quality seems to be getting worse and worse beginning with our '96 Camry, but I still keep coming back for a kick between the legs.... '98 Tacoma, '99 Camry, now an '02 Sequoia.

The brakes are junk, fit and finish seems to be lacking, ridiculous packaging options, incompetent dealerships and sales people... Worthless technical information..... I thought Lexus was a division of Toyota.... Appears to me it's the other way around and Toyota hasn't a clue what Lexus excels at>>>>> CUSTOMER SERVICE <<<<

I think I can go get a loaded Yukon 6.0 (with fog lights) save the $650 Toyota wants for the fog lights and still be ahead.... The extra money you pay for a Toyota should get you something.....

Good luck.... And I wouldn't leave the signing table without EXACTLY what you want like I did..... Whhhooooddaaa thunkit that a $110 option that was falsly advertised to begin with is now a $650 option????

WTF!! $650 for foglights!! i seriously think the issue is w/ the dealership/salespeople that you are dealing with.

we currently own 2 toyota's (camry/sequoia) and had a '98 sienna before and have had no real issues with them. sorry to hear about your problems though and i hope that everything works out.

my first Toyota

Thanks for the info thnksno, This is going to be my first Toyota. I hope I fair better....Sounds like a bad dealership...The Sequoia is meant to be a SUV between the 4runner and the Land Cruiser..The price I mean. I looked at consumers reports and the domestic SUV's don't even come close. I think the extra money for the SQ is worth the better quality...at least I hope it is.

I agree!!

thnksno
I think your dealer is one of the problems.
Hope your not realy selling the Sequoia over a bad experience with your dealership and some fog lights??
BTW Remeber that Toyota holds their Reale-Retail value WAY more than GMC or Ford.

I see that you have your "TS Supporter" now!!!
If you go to the "Lons Garage" and click on the Lighting and Electronics Forum the 1st Thread Should Be the
"HOW-TO: Add Fog Lights to a Sequoia SR5 (Lighted)"
I sent this updated description to nhparrot for the how to section...
If you need any help just PM me!

Yes, they did..... Toyota from tops to worst!!!

A Toyota "customer care specialist" names Dan called me this morning to discuss my complaint to the "home office" about Toyota's ridiculous "packaging options" and requested a "solution" to the fog light issue.

I explained that I've been buying Toyotas for a little over 10 years and currently own two of them, I've had 6 total brand new Toyotas in this amount of time. I further explained that they ADVERTISE fog lights as an option for the '02 SR5 and that I understand that since I bought my '02 technically in '01 that they might not have had the time to get the package together. In addition to this, I explained that I like(d) their products and I wasn't going to let a MEASLY $110 option hold up me buying one of Toyota's MOST EXPENSIVE vehicles.... I said that I've waited 6 months for them to get a "package" together and asked.... "What's up?"

Please note that I was cordial in my inquisition and I politely reminded them that GM, Ford and (God forbid) Dodge all offer every option on every vehicle....

Well..... Dan calls and gives me the following BS.... He says that it's a port installed option and that the option was originally available for just the LTD but that Toyota has recieved so many complaints about it that they are now installing them on all Sequoias and that I could bring my truck up and have them installed for $650

Dan said I'd need the following parts....

81210-0C020
81220-0C020
84140-0C040
90987-02012

The parts totaled up to about $425 and the additional $225 was labor for the installation.... Dan further mentioned something about needing to run (1) jumper wire but he didn't have a clue as to where it was supposed to come from or go. He also mentioned that my customer service request generated 8 pages of information.... The most he's ever seen, whatever that means.

I'm in a little with the parts manager so I hang up with Dan and give him a call to see what he knows. He graciously offers the parts up at cost (ie not really much of a savings considering it was originally a $110 option) and says that there's a guy up in Schaumburg Toyota that knows where the jumper wire should go.

At this point in time, I am ticked....

Let's see.... I spend more with one car manufacturer in the past 10 years than most people spend on their primary residence and they fail to give me the satisfaction of saying, "Jim, why don't you bring the truck up and we'll see what we can do for you at a REASONABLE cost." That's all I wanted..... Heck, it was a $110 option for $220 and a warranteed solution??? I'da gladly paid it....

Further, I can't tell you how many Toyotas may have been sold because of my resounding recommendations to others regarding my POSITIVE experiences with Toyota.... This one MINOR ISSUE has me bashing their brand and ready to go check out the new GMC's tonight.....

Is everybody certain Lexus is an off-shoot of Toyota????

PS.... IR, "typically" my Toyotas have served me well.... You're correct, this is a customer service/dealership issue. Problem I'm having with that right now is Elmhurst Toyota "was" the last good Toyota dealer around Chicago..... Plenty of GMC dealers, and my friends that have GMC trucks, routinely have warranty work done on out of warranty trucks, are given demos to drive, etc., etc., etc.... NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Hmm, brakes on our Sequoia are by far superior to any American trucks. Same with fit and finish. We've driven them all, and it all adds up to why my parents bought their first Toyota. Not that my '89 with 147k basically trouble free miles (hard miles at times too) didn't help them make their decision either.

I will agree to a certain extent on the customer service issue, there is room for improvement. Though our buying experience was excellent.

My $0.02.
