hi, my wife has a rav4.
she has Dunlop ST20 Grandtrek 215/70R/16 tires.
4ply by 1ply sidewall. 1 ply i have a feeling that is a issue right there!

max load 1709lbs per tire.
thread wear 300 traction B & tempture B.
well although they will last 5years.

she doesn't like the swaying side to side, & in the rain they are horrible.
so i figured i'd i start my search here.

i know my tundra double cab with 20" limited/X-SP edition had the shake ,side to side, or rutting, tracking issue, etc , whatever you want to call it, but if you have it ,you know.

i resolved it, & fowarded the info i found. and to date i have had 5 people that switched tires to the same as i , and they thanked me, it's gone.

it took many hours ,eve days to find the answer. & all shop's in the yellow pages, & on line. plus emails, etc.
reseached to i finally figured it out.

hankook ventus st 295/45/20, & now it's gone. 6ply BY 2 ply rated A in temp. & traction.

but a rav4 is no double cab tundra!

so i was wondering what you have found out how to resolve this,
if you had any of these issue's.

what tires resolve this?

i'm leaning towards a v-rated tire with A in temp. & A in traction.
maybe another set of hankooks. but she has 16 inch rim's.

if anyone has any idea's due to the fact you had these issue's,
please enlighten me, to your finding & reseach.:beatsme:
thankyou,

hi as i see this is a very small forum. it's o.k. i will research this for all of us.
i know my wife on widy days feels like she is getting blown around.
& traction is bad, etc.
just as i did for the tundra guy's ,it might take some time,
but i will find the correct tire, to fix the issues.

hey Gorilla, my wife also has a RAV4, 2004 4cyl. We got new tires about 18months ago, Yokohama Geolander H/T-S, and they've been outstanding. No road noise, no harsh ride, nice warranty 60k miles, feel very safe in the rain, and they weren't too expensive. Yokohama's are a Japanese tire and Hankook's are a Chinese tire. Since the RAV4 was built in JP, we went with a JP made tire as well. ;)

I've been very pleased knowing at least she's safe on the road with those tires.

I am looking for tires for a 07 Rav4
I am told that the Rav4 requires a "H" series tire & Michelin does not make them in that size.
One dealer suggested Bridgestone or Dunlop. I am not a fan of either of these brands. The Toyota dealer quote me a price on Uniroyals. I don't like this brand either.
Good luck,

I put Fortera Triple Treads on my wife's 06 Rav4 last fall. Handling on dry roads, wet roads, and snow has been excellent. It's a quiet and good looking tire to boot.

Gorilla,

Thanks for the recommendation and feedback. I have the Firestone Destination MT's on my Tundra and love their performance. I will certainly add Firestone Destinations to my 2010 RAV when the time comes.
