anyone has issue with high mirror making some high whistling noise (wind noise)? It's not the door cuz when I rolled up the windows, noise is blocked..I'm pretty sure it's the mirror....(non-towing mirror).

any fix for this?

wind noise with the window down....um.....yeah, thats kinda gonna happen. if i drive with my windows down my tow mirrors have wind noise...but then miraculously when i roll them up, it too is "blocked" as you stated. so....toyota did a fine job of sealing the truck.

Can you be more specific? Do you have a diagram that I can look at to see if mine has a gasket there or not?
its real simple...pull off the sail panel on the inside- its the triangular piece that covers the mounting bolts. if u want remove the bolts (dont drop the bottom one inside the door panel or you will be taking that off too) and or just loosen them to pull the mirror back and there should be a gasket between the mirror and the door. but if its not there then it could create a wind noise inside witht he window up...not much to do about wind outside the truck...

Thanks. One bolt on top but bottom bolt req door panel removal to access. I took top bolt off and snugged the mirror out a little and I saw the rubber gasket.
I guess tomorrow I will tape up the openning and try to locate exact location and use some gasket sealant to seal it.

if u do a search on the tow mirror swap, its possible to get to that bolt without door panel removal. alot of us have done it. just pull the panel out and use a wrench on it and a magnet so as not to drop it. i'd hesitate to use sealant for the mess it will make if you ever want/need to take the mirror off but its your truck...but that bolt is possible to access w/o removal, but as u probally know, its almost as easy to pull the panel, should take 5 minutes tops....sometimes thats easier than taking the risk of dropping it down in there anyway.

I have the same issue with the mirrors... At the point they fold in... there is crease / crack. If you put your finger over that crack, the whistling stops or changes.

So proves to me it is wind coming through that opening some how... and making noise.

How to fix?? My wife says no duct tape... another issue of a guy solution vs female solution...

Roll up the window... not an option at below 60MPH as I like the breeze... Radio has to be loud anyway because of the air noise....

It will be interesting to see if someone has a good fix.... and my truck looks acceptable to the females.... oh well.

Thanks to anyone with a good fix!

well...just an idea..i cant picture it since i have tow mirrors but is there enough of a flat spot somewhere in that crease to put a very small thin piece of self adhesive weather stripping so that it compresses and fills the gap when the mirror is swung back out into position?

Took it to the dealer sterling mccall in Houston today and they blamed the noise was from the chrome mirror cover I put in. So I told him to pull it off and try and the dude just walked off. WTF?
Went home and pull the chrome cover off (orig cover underneath) and sure enough, it makes no diff. Going to bring it back Monday.
