Putting together a complete system for my 2007 Tundra Crewmax and I am stumped on which subs to use. I am trying to decide between two JL 13TW5-3 slim 13.5" subs or two Alpine SWR-T12 slim 12" subs. The subs will be mounted in a custom enclosure behind my rear seat and powered by an Alpine PDX-M12 amp (1200 watts RMS). Promblem is that I've never heard either of the subs and have gone to numerous shops in my area to try to listen to both subs, but no shop (even the authorized retailers) has either sub hooked up in an enclosure for me to hear. Anyone out there hear either of these subs, or ideally both subs, so they can help guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

thanks for the feedback guys. will keep trying to find a shop so I can listen to these subs. Leaning towards the Alpine, but still have some time to decide....waiting on the new alpine double din deck to come out in april.
mosdef - good point on the power output.
cwhowell - thanks for the info and thanks for serving our country.

Jumbo Jet - good to know. sound quality is more important than spl to me.
VWTim - i was actually waiting for the SI BM MK4's to come out, but not sure if i can wait.
Matt - like Loudy said, the kicker isn't in the same league as the jl or alpine offerings.

Spoke with Stereo Integrity and they said since it will be a while until the MK4's come out they reccommend the Alpine slim subs for now.

I don't want to lose any seat travel in the back seat and mounting depth of regular subs will cause the back seat to be moved forward. Basically, I got a crewmax because of the room and don't want to lose that or any rear seat function due to the subs.

crewmax - thanks for the tip. i am planning on removing that black plastic trim panel on the back and that frees up some space, but not enough to run a quality 12" conventional sub with a deep magnet (mounting depth).

discoed - i'm leaning towards the alpine slims and can get a good price on them, just want to hear them first and haven't been able to talk to anyone who has them personally to get their feedback. had 3 jl12w6's before and not going for the same goal this time.

crewmax and zapco - thanks for the tips and feedback.

Decided on two Alpine slim 12's and will start getting everything installed in about 2 weeks. Install of the full system will take about a week and I'll post feedback and pics as soon as everything is finished. Found a shop with the slim JL 13" sub and really hope the Alpine is louder and plays lower than the JL. Thank you all for the feeback and advice.
