as the title states i need help removing the mirror covers. i got my hand on some color keyed mirror covers but im having a hard time removing the old ones. i counted 6 little tabs that hold the mirror cover , but i can only get a hold of 3. for all you who replaced your mirror covers did you have to remove the mirror? or wil manipulating the mirror side to side up and down should be enough to get to the tabs that hold the cover in place?

time to vent! i bought primered mirror covers from carson toyota for my doublecab tundra and never got around to painting them. then i got a hold of some painted mirror covers exactly like the ones from carson and when i finally get the stock ones off the tabs and crap are different, so in other words they dont fit at all! i guess these mirrors covers i got from carson and the painted ones i bought from a member are for the AC and not for the DC even though they both said it would fit a DC. i just know im pissed as hell. THE END... anyone want to buy primered mirror covers or painted mirror covers in black? they are for an AC not DC

when i bought the IS kit i poked the covers out by moving the miror itself and poking past it frum inside the side view miror. it was pretti simple actually.

well..i don't think a pic is really necessary..its a 2005 white double cab. i told him to order the part from carsontoyota.com..white and specificy double cab tundra.

so it is the same part number then?? they looked the exact same to me..size and everything..i'm gunna measure the mirror next time i see him.

his truck isn't here so no pics..

Yea they share the same cover's but im surprised to see the part is still around? Toyota discountined them as a part number and Now you have to buy the whole mirror's . I got mine from Carson Toyota as well (white access cab) and added one on a Double cab for a friend so I know they fit ..Carson had some leaft over from the IS Model which was axed for 2003..

I am that friend that ordered the covers from carson. I just got a email saying that he no longer has the white colored ones, only the primer, desert mica, red and blue ones... so if you have a white Tundy, you are outta like from carson.

Jus have the chrome ones painted. Thats what I did. A good paint guy can easily paint over the chrome without the worry of it peeling and macth whatevr color you need. I had my paint guy do several pairs for other TS members but unfortunaley he stopped taking side work to concentrate on painting my buddies race car.

thats what i ended up telling my friend to do..i really want him to paint the entire mirror white, but its gunna take some work! and when he's in the paint shop i'm going to encourage him to paint his tailgate handle and bumper to match as well! haha!

Agent409,

you mean like this. I've worked on my Tundra in the same manner I hate chrome with a passion and like the sport Truck California color keyed without the overkill..

Tailgate Handle part ordered from the Limited (ordered from anythingtoyota.com $40)

next I reworked the lame crappy bumpers with Line X and removed the Chrome (yuk)

40 bucks for that tailgate handle..thats it???? im telling him right now..haha

he's also looking to get rid of that ugly front chrome on his double cab 05..you know how much that would be to get a whole new limited grille from them??

he tried to get the mirror covers from carsontoyota, but they were all out...do you think anythingtoyota.com would have them??

anyone specific to ask to talk to on that site??
