Hey guys, I just bought a super nice 2011 crewmax with the platinum package fully loaded, the bad part is that I'm truly disappointed with the output of the JBL audio system. I do really love the gps and Bluetooth features, so I will love to keep this unit and I was wondering if there is some kind of upgrades that can be done to get better output from it, like a DSP, amp, equalizer etc.
I stop by the local audio store and Bestbuy and they just want to offer you brand new head units, new speakers, new amps etc. But not this kind of upgrades, so if any of you guys that have done something to upgrade your system with any kind of products and can provide any info or ideas/sugestions will be really appreciated!

Nice truck.. I felt the mids and highs were good in the truck as i have the same system but i was not happy with the bass output so i changed the sub and added an amp to it i am now happy with it. You can change the head unit and still keep all the oem controls and speeker phone.

Thanks Boywonder ..! they tried to sell me the gray leather because they had one on the lot. but after seeing the red rock...there was no turning back. made them ship one in. had to wait a few extra days...but well worth the wait .

now with the speakers, I'm ordering new sub/amp and I'm gonna build a custom box for this truck, but I'm still looking for more info about how to get this think to sound better.

Sweet new ride... congrats (on a side note, how'd u do on trade-in/sale of your '08?)

Get new speakers all around... the stock ones aren't that great. Get some flat / slim-mount 10" subs in a custom box behind the seats (I was able to add 2 10's without losing any leg-room back there - the box doesn't interfere[if u want to see my box dimensions, it's here:http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tundra/200218-added-some-subs-custom-box-my/]). Get an amp for the new subs with a remote gain control knob so u can adjust the subs better.

That's all you should need to have a very nice system.

Hey Popo, aren't the amp, sub outputs set up to output into a 2 Ohm impedance...the sub spec say they are 4 Ohm...unless you are running them in parallel? I could be wrong thou, wouldn't be the 1st time...

Look into a rockford fosgate 360.2 or the JBL MS8....both are summing devices/eqs/time alignment. the main difference is the MS8 has a built in amp which is a nice feature, the fosgate you have to have a computer with bluetooth to tune it, both are bad ass pieces to keep the oem radio.

I've got no clue! I actually just picked up an amp for my subs, which should be installed in the next week or 2. As for the stock amp, I guess it could be 2ohm. Actually, that would make sense... at least with the front channel. The front door speakers AND dash speakers run off the same channel, so they're probably 2-ohm. But the back door speakers are on their own channel (which would usually make them 4-ohm)... but maybe the whole amp is setup at 2-ohm. I don't know :confuseda: LOL

Would be easy... you can just tap into the subwoofer wires @ the sub. Run them into a new amp that has speaker-level inputs, then back out to the subwoofer... several members on here have replaced the stock sub with something better (shallow-mount Pioneer or Kickers). I'd recommend getting an amp that has remote gain control, so that you can mount a knob up on the dash somewhere, to easily control your bass output.
