New owners: getting used to the interior?

Any of you lucky new owners, are you getting used to the very plastic interior? I'm having a hard time convincing my wife that I need a new Tundra after she saw the interior. She likes the interior of our 04 DC Limited. I feel the same way about the use of hard, cheap looking plastic even in the limited, although I can overlook it with 381 hp.

What are your feelings on the optional dash oplique? If you like woodgrain, you might try it. It would, at least, cut down on the plastic look.
OK. If the dash or interior is not plastic then what is it made out of? They quit using all metal parts on the interior many years ago. Accident data, manufacturing costs, airbags, maintenance, etc. were all factors. Personally I like the interior a lot and always have from the minute I first sat in the showroom model. I have the DC Limited package with leather. Great for comfort and looks good too. Only gripe is I would have prefered a bit less silver or gray colors on the interior trim, or at least a darker shade of gray.
The only complaint I have on the interior is black. It is a pain to keep clean.
I realize that plastic is used in all interiors...however, the grade or feel of the plastic in the new Tundras just seems cheaper...on my 04 Limited, some of the plastic on the door feels soft to the touch and the edges are nicely finished off...I thought the new Tundras have a lot of hard, cheap plastic in it...including the door panels and the plastic around the shifter.

I have to agree while I do like the new Tundra, the older previous generation especially the 00-04 interiors are nicer. For 05 they started using a new seat anchor the achor bolts look terrible. Also, I am not a big fan of the leather in the new Tundra and the door panels feel very cheap. I do like the centre console and the front dash and overhead compartments.
i love my limited ... took a day to get used too it but i cant thank myself enough for not getting the base model ...
Just say "NO" to woodgrain applique! It's not fully adhered to the plastic so it buckles when you touch it. The version that I saw looked like melted chocolate - way too swirly and very shiny. When you look into the vents you can see the edges of the plastic.

Agreed - DARE to say NO
I just came out of an '04 DC SR5, and the interior was nice, but the '07 SR5 in my case is so much better IMO. It's very different and the dash is something you have to get used to. I love the look of the dash at night with it's Orange glow. The first comment my wife made as we left the dealer on Saturday was, "I love this interior". It all come down to personal opinion. The plastic does not bother me at all.:ts:
Interior is great IMO. Very comfortable, nice looking and a good feel to me.
Nothing to "get used to" here, loved the interior from the start. Completely agree on the orange lit guages and on saying "NO" to the cheesy wood applique.
where can I see this "cheesy woodgrain appliqué"? Hate to admit it but I like woodgrain and disco music. I'm waiting on my 07 DC limited to show up.
Just wanted to post something since Im constantly reminded by the message that I havent as of yet...........so My complaint is the looong reach to the cup holder. I have the center console. That and the little compartment in front of the shift lever that I normally keep small things like gum in..........every time I hit the brakes it comes flying out. A nice little lip would be good. Just my opinion.
There will be Carbon Fiber and Stainless dash kits avail. soon.

It looks like more plastic because it's a bigger dash.

RELAX.
It's not just the size of the dash...the quality of plastic used on doors, center console, around the shifter....they just seem cheap...I don't know if it's the texture, the feel, or thickness, but it just seems like flimsy cheap plastic.
When I bought my '02 I hated the dash. It looked almost retro. The door interior finishing cheap. But I bought the truck because it's a Toyota. Didn't take me long to like the dash, still hated the finishing on the doors, especially the handle. 5 years later, I really like the dash, still hated the doors. I ordered my '07 5.7L TRD unseen. I heard all the complaints about the interior on this site about the interior (98% form 1st gen owners, which I was at the time as well). I took delivery, hopped in the cabin, looked for the cheap palstic (compared to my '02), couldn't find it. The interior is heads above my '02 (although the black needs much more attention then the tan with the Jade Mica). The cheapest looking part IMHO is the HVAC knobs, but I was over it after the first ten miles. It's a truck, and an upgrade over my '02 which was bullet proof. BS'ing with guys I meet at 4wd high alpine lakes fishing, always thought the "02 was brand new, even 5 years later! My '07 looks ten times better (still hope it is just as reliable, so far so good).

Gettting my 07 in 3 weeks. On one of my several test drives I finally noticed a complaint about the interior. The Fuel Gauge is tough to see way down that tunnel. The opti lite gauges on Limited package is awesome. Not getting limited so I will just pay attention to the low fuel light as needed. Can't wait to get this 8242 delivered
