I did a search for line-x dealers in houston and called the company directly. None in Houston w/ the the closest one is in Beaumont. Amazes me considering this state leads the US intruck ownership and I am near the biggest city in the state. I have found a couple of places that do high pressure liners but after getting through the general, avoiding, standard responses they admit that there product is not line-x but a competitor. May not necessarily be a bad thing but I just don't know. I know I want a high pressure liner both for looks and durabilty from my past experiences w/ both types. My question is -- Are the Line-x's competitors high pressure liners similar in quality, durability and looks? Will they still look good in 3-5 years? What seperates Line-x? Thanks for anyone's help.

I looked for a Line-X dealer here in Fairbanks and there isn't any either. Does any one recommend another type of spray in bed liner? I don't mean to HIJACK your thread but I also don't want to start another bed liner thread. I did a search and didn't come up with much.

If you find a good alternative let me know. I am trying to figure out what is best before I purchase something.

The one in Beaumont actually doesn't do Line-X anymore. I called them. I live on the North side of Houston and did a bunch of checking. There is an Austin location, but it isn't open on saturdays. Waco does it supoosedly. I finally went sown to the friendswood location because Austin said they did it.

I called set up an appointment, but when I showed up (i guess I should have asked before I went) they don't do Line-x anymore. I got their product...Xtreme. It seems to be a very good product. They sprayed it on very smoothly and evenly. Also, it has a very good sheen or shine to it. seems just right for the $350.00 I spent. Had it done in an hour.

After reading all the discussion on here about the benefits and drawbacks of sifferent liners, I decided to go with Line-x. But, the company has no locations within a few hundred mile radius of Houston.

There are other decent bedliner products out there other than LINE-X. But, you may not get the "whole package". For example, when choosing a bedliner, consider the product, warranty, and tendency to fade.

So, for Xtreme:
Product: Polyurea/polyurethane blend, high pressure.:tu:
Warranty: Lifetime, but not nationwide lifetime. :td:
Fading: No UV protection offered (I don't think). :td:

If you plan on putting on a tonneau, don't worry about fading.

THere used to be a fair nuber of linex dealers in houston but the answers I have been getting from them is used to but don't any more. Some have stated that can't compete w/ others due to linex raising their prices. Any thoughts on why it is not that linex has never had dealers here but that all the linex dealers stopped using them?

Well, the last time LINE-X Corp. raised their prices was January 2006.

I'll tell you this, the only full LINE-X bedliner replacement under warranty that I worked on was from a LINE-X dealer in Houston. The customer was from Houston but was a student at TCU. He brought his truck to my shop. Very thin, they had patched spots with silicone (which is NOT correct). They applied a second coating on the tailgate and the second coating was peeling off the first coating because they did not use a primer (which is NOT correct). So, as for my experience with the Houston guys, I'd say their problem was that they were incompetent which surely will lead to failure. Now, why were they incompentent and what happen their training? Well, I don't know but I betcha there's more to the story.

The big boys are LINE-X and Rhino. If you decide on another brand, OK, as long as you realize the limitations and risks.

I took these pics last weekend. This Viper shop is (was) about 1.5 miles from my shop. He lasted about a year. DumbDumb left his chemical barrels outside instead of properly disposing of them:

go with a rhino lining. I had it on my last truck and I will put it on my new one. It is put on at least a 1/4" thick and is very durable. Mine on my old truck is 7 years old and if I was to clean it real good get the dirt and other stuff off it would look like I just got it done. Can't wait to get mine sprayed in.

Rhino is good, but only when applied correctly. Major issue with Rhino quality is that it is sprayed on cold so if there isn't a good technician applying it then it can have a tendency to “droop” on the sides, where as Line-X is sprayed on hot and hardens virtually instantly, so you will have an even coat on everything.

A few years ago, I used to sell Dodge trucks, and recommended Line-X to everyone as the number one accessory for their investment. Some people still went with Rhino, and while most of the time I saw decent results, there would be times that it would just plain be a crappy job. As for Line-X, I have never seen a problem.

So I guess to keep this from being a hijacked thread about Line-X vs. Rhino quality, what I really have to say is that Rhino is a quality alternative, but just make sure that the person knows what they are doing, and look at previously sprayed trucks as examples… preferably one that was just completed right before you place your order.
