No NAVs out there

I spent the last two days trying to order a DC 4x4 5.7 SR5 with NAV and TRD and no dealer seems to be able to find it. Is anyone else finding the SR5/NAV combo hard to come by? Some dealers tell me that Toyota doesn't really "order" anything, you simply wait in line until one configured your way comes along. Thoughts?

I saw a couple here in Orlando at a dealer, but he said the nav. was added at the port. Maybe ask him if they could install it port.

I don't think you can even get a SR5 with NAV out here in California without a special order... you can't configure it that way on the toyota web site... which is a shame, because it's what I want too... good luck to you in your search.
i wanted a limited trd with navi but i couldnt find it either .. so i just got it without the trd kit
When my dealer (in Columbia, SC) asked me what I HAD to have in the way of options (aside from the 4x4, DC, 5.7) I told him "all I NEED is TRD & NAV" he came back with one that had TRD and no NAV and vice versa. He tried to shove both down my throat, when he saw I wasn't going to budg he offered to order me one. Monday, I slapped down a $500 nonref deposit and ordered my Slate/Graphite 4x4, DC, 5.7, TRD, NAV, Cold pack, bucket seats, tow mirrors, homelink mirror. They placed the order monday afternoon with toyota and sent me the order sheet on tuesday morning. I confirmed with the dealer today that they had the allocation and that the order was accepted by Toyoter.

I don't know why I could not find those two damned options together, but I made it work. You might just want to special order it, the dealer can get it dun for ya.:tu:

good luck, and chin up!!!:)

I wish, not in the SET region. They all try to stick it to you! Forget about dealers working with you down here. I am trying to deal in Knoxville, TN now 8 hrs away.
I put down a deposit about the end of January on a Limited Crewmax 4X4 with nav. I did not place a "special order", but rather got the right of 1st refusal on their allocated inventory. They did preference a truck with the specs I requested. As of this week, absolutely nothing from the dealer. They tell me if they get one in it will be mine and they will call me right away. I was informed that going this route would be faster than going special order (about 6-8 months).

I am getting very frustrated. Why will Toyota not build a "loaded" or even semi loaded Crewmax?? I've started to search dealers all over TX and not much luck... found one about 5 hr away, but already sold.

Now I have to decide if I want to continue to wait (who knows how long) or alter my original plan. I am thinking if I can find a 4X4 limited, I will try to add an aftermarket nav system. I really don't want to give up the 4X4 even though I don't use it much, I don't want to get stuck unable to get my boat up a steep wet ramp.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just watching all the other happy new owners and getting jealous.

Not many people want everything, and even fewer can afford it. I would just special order and get want you want if you are spending 45K+ on a truck. Even if I had the money to spend that much on a truck, I think I would still go with the SR5.
I believe that Gulf States Toyota orders these units without nav so that they can add their own port options like XM radios. Also, notice that most of these CrewMaxes are right around $40K give or take a couple of grand.
Interesting that in the D.C./Baltimore area the option for ordering a SR5 (either DC or CM) does not provide for the Navigation option... yet on Toyota's web site it is technically available. So, it may either have to do with how they are allocating them or some kind of demographical marketing methods. In any case, it makes getting a Nav system a $40K+ proposition. I guess every region has its own weird thing to deal with.
I do remember reading somewhere that "custom" ordered Tundras were going to be available, just not initially. If I recall correctly, at or shortly after June of this year, you'll be able to order the Tundra just the way you want it. For now, it looks like the vast majority of people have to wait for what they want to appear in Toyota's manufacturing and hope it gets allocated to them (or the dealership they're working with).

Thanks for the pic of MY truck man!! Looks like your kids are as stoked about it as you are. :D Now I know what it will actually look like...minus the kids, and add one geriatric Boxer that I'll probably have to lift into the cab. :) I can't wait!
That is one damned sharp truck...glad I ordered it! Now, if I could just sell the Corvette for a decent price...anyone interested?!:clown:

I went through this exact same thing when looking for MY truck. I'm in Florida and EVERY dealer in Florida was the same "it's either nav and no TRD or TRD and no nav". Not a one to be found in the SET area. So I went with the nav and no trd but got the upgraded wheels. I plan on lifting it anyways so paying for the TRD package eventually made no sense to me.

They will be allowing you to order to spec pretty soon.....but after seeing and driving this truck, I just couldn't wait!!!

Good luck!!!

That is one good looking Truck. I love that color. It looks stunning.

Good luck:tu:
I found someone to order a pyrite mica with TRD and NAV on an SR5. I'm told the 1st week in May it should be in. Apparently, one is being produced as an SR5 with TRD and a "build date" of 4/16 (whatever that is). Then it "arrives at the port" and can be outfitted with anything I want- in this case NAV. Obviously, "arrive at the port" is old school terminology for "out of the main factory" and ready for customization (I guess a second tier production of some sort. Interesting process. Anyone know if the "build date" is the date they finish the first part of production or when it first starts?:ts:
So, you are going to gt a port-installed nav? Are you sure it's going to look and work like the factory nav? Do you get the high-end JBL sound system with it? How about all of the integrated features of the factory nav? (see the Tundra iGuide).

For about two hours, you had me panicked! I didn't even think to ask the question. After reading your post, I emailed the guy at carsdirect.com (who I used to buy the truck for $1200 over invoice) and he confirmed it is indeed a factory install. He also told me that when they customize "at the port" you can get anything offered by Toyota. Basically, a custom vehicle. Pretty cool, I thought.:tu:

AT port they made in America Right

Man deal say the damdest thing:rolleyes:

I wonderring if I can get one from a wreck and put it in
Interesting. My only required option is Nav. I had to turn down a vehicle today because it had TRD, which I don't want.

I ordered a pyrite micah DC 4x4 SR5 w/nav and bu camera, trd pkg and a bunch of other options as well, including leather. The order sheet listed factory and port installed options separately. The nav system was shown as a factory install. The port installed options were all bolt on type stuff, even the TRD dual exhaust. Don't know about the build date for sure but I have to think if the assembly is done in two stages in two different geographic locations that it would be a two day proccess excluding ship time. As many of these trucks as are being built right now they must be really spittin' 'em out! Anybody know how many a day are being produced?
