Well it started today , my transmission is starting to act funny , like it is holding the gear between 2 to 3 or to 4th and then release's it hard , it only has 27,000 miles on my truck , babied it most of the time driving it. This has been my 5th toyota , had all tacoma's before , but my last tacoma had a bad bearing on the diff side of the cv joint , toyota tech said it was normal to have that much play in it and to make clicking sound's , yea right!!!! Traded in on this tundra , now this , I am starting to think a little differently about toyota now, I hate to say this but things were built better across seas. I disconnected my battery to see if today it would relearn the driving style and when driving it smooth it would do it again !!! But if you seem to get on it semi hard it shifts fine ???

Is this from a cold start or engine at full temp ?
Mine has always been quirky when cold

I had an 06 Z71 that at 20K the transmission went bad and I didn't not abuse it either... all cars have their issues and eventually your gonna run into a few bad ones over the years. My 07 Honda Civic had a leaking water jacked that a TSB was on and had to replace it with a short block. I'm starting to think nobody makes a desent car now days.

Might be time for a transmission service. (Flush, Fill, Filter change?).... I haven't really read up on our tranny service recommendations as I only have 6k miles. I do think that this is too soon to actually NEED to do this, but to me it would be worth the gamble. You can also look at the condition of the fluid. Have you ever overheated?

This is exactly why they have a warranty... drive it in, say "Please fix my transmission", walk out. Return later to pick up truck. People forget that a modern car has over 10,000 parts in it and they usually come from 100 or more suppliers. A 1% defect rate means that you'd still have 100 things wrong when you drive it off the lot.

^^^ Exactly --- at only 27000 miles, it should still be under warranty! Take it in! That's what it's there for!

Oh great. Thanks for putting that little thought in my head. I have enough trouble falling asleep as it is...
