I have a 2005 Tundra Dbl Cab Ltd with 192,000 miles. I've only used conventional oil since day one (only owner). Should I switch to a high mileage synthetic blend oil? Not having any issues and I've changed the oil every 5,000 miles religiously.

Did you accidentally copy and paste a full email on your post? lol 😂

anyways, im not going to bore you with the details, but yes a “high mileage full synthetic” would be the best oil for your truck. “Full synthetic” is just better than a “conventional” or “synthetic blend”. Dont get Synthetic Blend confused with full synthetic, they aren’t the same. Everybody here upgraded to full synthetic from conventional a long time ago. It’s the best stuff for our trucks. Even though your trucks been running fine on conventional, I’d bet it’ll run a whole lot longer with a full synthetic.

i usually go with the brand penzoil (it tested the best on the “project farm” youtube channel, great YouTube channel look him up). Mobil 1 is another great brand, and they make great oil filters too. (Penzoil doesn’t have oil filters, so I either buy the toyota brand or mobile1 oil filters, both can be found at Walmart)

Hope this helps

Definitely go with fully synthetic for multiple benefits. Unless you are burning some oil between changes, initially try standard 10-30 or even 5-30 and see how your vehicle performs. If oil is "consumed" in 5,000 miles, then the high mileage synthetic would be the better choice.

I have had five Toyota pickups (still have two). At around 10,000 miles I have switched to full synthetic on all of them.
REASON: The engine is fully broken in at 10,000 miles and all debris has settled out. Switching to the lower friction, lower wear synthetic oil ( I use Mobil 1) results in about 10% better gas mileage (my experience on all five of them).

I change oil and filter between 5,000 and 7,500 miles. None of my trucks burned oil, so no topping off between drains was necessary. I have never had any engine problems in several hundreds of thousands of miles.

Have you personally actually seen this happen? If so, how many times?

I've had six Toyotas and after the first 10,000 mi I have switched to synthetics and it observed an average miles per gallon increase of 10% on all of them. I have never experienced any leaks of oil. The reference to smaller molecules may be true, but the o-ring seals and in some cases metal washer seals are impervious to those smaller molecules.
