Ordering a new Tundra ???

1267 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  WallyCJ7
So at the end of Feburary I went to a local dealer and paid a down payment and I ordered my new Tundra..... At the time I ordered the truck the saleman said he had to have another salesguy place the order..... He said the other guy will call me on monday and go over everything.... No call..... When down there tuesday and took the internet email configuration of the truck I want and wrote down the extra stuff I wanted..... They made a copy and if it doesn't match this we will change it for you.....

I thought everythinh was fine until I read a post with this statement " Specified vehicle won't be taken by Toyota until Allocation 16th which is in April sometime"

So what does this mean to me.... I have a dealer that said he ordered my truck and is going to string me along?

Please let me know if so I can get the fish hook removed from my mouth and then go get my downpayment back.... And then go find a real dealer.....

Thanks Steve

Steve,
If you're in Santee...I'd make the trip up to Orange County and talk with Dianne at Toyota of San Juan Capistrano. She'll be able to get you a better deal, and she's been very honest with me about arrival times and availability.

Or...just give her a call, get the quote, and order it over the phone (if you already know what you want). Personally, I think it'll be much less hassle and you'd save more.

Just my .02. Best of luck! :tu:

If it's true that my truck didn't get ordered, I will be finding another dealer for sure. I've checked out some of her posts and she seems straight forward with her deals. The drive is not that far for a good HONEST deal:tu:

I know extactlly what I want and I dont need to financing... Just right the check.

I just went through the same hurdles in N. San Diego County, the dealers down here seem to play the same old games. I ended up purchasing a truck through Dianne. She was professional, found exactly what I wanted at a great price and delivered at the promised date.
If you call me and tell me what you're looking for, I can tell you if you're being strung alone or not.

My desk line is 949 493 4100 x117 after 9am today (Saturday) till 3 today. Then, if you do not get me today, try me Monday!!! :)

Incidentally, I know MY market for these trucks. Local, in CA or closeby. This post is not an invitation from some other area to see how their dealership's treatiing them. I refuse to set someone else's regional market on its ear. I can do what I can do for MY buyers. If you're far away, have no patience, want a truck RIGHT NOW that's a custom order built just for you but do not have the ability to wait and yet won't compromise, steer clear of me. :) I have little professional patience for the irrational.

If you're frustrated by being told "YOU CANT GET THAT" and you think you should be able to, and are willing to GET YOUR TRUCK from me, then I would love to hear from you. Anyone who's reasonable, and rational, and for special orders, can wait. That can be 3-4 weeks, or in the case of the CrewMax trucks, 3+ months because of the plant's inability to do custom orders for the month of March.

Just one thing to add, Please understand that ordering a truck is a request. Your dealer could have preferenced your truck, did a build change and tried a special order and still not got allocated the truck. It doesnt mean they didnt try. We dont always get what we request. If we dont , then we try again, or trade for one , and keep trying until we do.

If the dealer you ordered yours through is a small dealer and doesnt get many trucks, your order will be harder to get than a dealer that has a huge allotment of trucks that they can change or preferece.

Just fyi
Dianne, I'll call you Monday.....
